Product Engineer

We're hiring a Product Engineer to help build and scale the app that thousands of sports fans use every day. You’ll work across the company with different teams (design, growth, product, etc) to turn ideas into reality.

At Pikkit, we're building the home for sports betting.

Today, we're a social sports betting app with over 1 million users, 20,000+ five-star reviews, and more than $30B in legal U.S. sports wagers tracked through our app. We're featured in industry reports from Citizens Bank, Houlihan Lokey, SBC, and more, and backed by top-tier VCs including Founder Collective, Baukunst, and Matrix.

We're a team of ~15, all in-person at our Flatiron NYC office. We move fast, ship high-quality product, care deeply about sports fans, and don't take ourselves too seriously. 😊

This role takes ownership of one of the most challenging parts of a fast paced startup: turning ideas into a reality. These can be small yet delightful features, or more ambitious projects and changes.

Because of the multidisciplinary nature of this role, you are expected to be more of a generalist. Capable of handling mobile, web, API, and database changes as needed. You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas, but you need to be familiar enough to learn. Which is ultimately a key aspect of this role, being able to use AI and other tools to learn and fill gaps in knowledge as needed.

This is a very hands-on role. You'll be writing code, shaping new features and changes to existing features, instrumenting what you build, and partnering closely with product and design to compound our velocity. We're a small, AI-leveraged team, so you should be comfortable using AI tools like Claude Code and Cursor as part of your everyday workflow, not just curious about them.

As Product Engineer, you will:

• Build and scale core features across our React Native mobile app and React web app

• Own the “0 to 1” of taking an idea and turning it into a reality - whatever that entails

• Translate product and design vision into polished, performant user interfaces, with strong instincts for what will actually work for users

• Instrument what you build with analytics, and use that data to inform what to build next

• Identify bottlenecks in our product process and constantly optimize for product velocity

• Take pride in seeing your work impact millions of users

• 4+ years of software engineering experience building and iterating on product

• Decent understanding of the different elements that go behind modern products (frontend, backend, databases) and how these pieces fit together

• Experience with React, React Native, Expo, Node, AWS, MongoDB is a plus

• A strong product mind and good user intuition, someone who can push back on a spec, not just implement one

• A good ability to “see around corners” when it comes to making changes

• Experience adding analytics/instrumentation and using it to drive product decisions

• Comfortable owning a task end-to-end and thriving in ambiguity, startup or significant personal project experience is a major plus

• AI-forward: you actively use AI coding tools in your day-to-day work and want to keep pushing on how AI can make you faster and better
