Work across product, engineering, and design to ship customer-focused full‑stack features (frontend-heavy) for a retail/CPG startup. Engage customers, scope ambiguous problems, build end-to-end solutions, influence product and engineering practices, and lead cross-functional initiatives while mentoring future hires.

Compensation
RetailPath is on a mission to improve the day-to-day of operations teams in the CPG space. Every day, billions of dollars of goods get shipped by wholesale brands, and every day, brands lose hundreds of millions of dollars to market inefficiencies.
Our first product tackles retail shipping chargebacks; a major pain for operators. You’ll work directly with the founders, Maysam & Connor, to help take the product into the next chapter. We have strong early traction, funding, and office space in Chinatown, NYC.
Work at the intersection of product, engineering, and design to directly improve the lives of our customers. If you only knew the software they have to deal with... there is a lot of opportunity.
We're looking for a product-minded engineer who can use their strong design sense to ship high-craft solutions and drive projects end-to-end. This role leans toward frontend work, but you'll need to be comfortable across the stack. We designed this role for engineers who want to grow fast and help shape a high-growth startup from the ground floor.
In practical terms, you'll work across the stack, talk to our amazing customers, like Barebells Protein Bars and Bioderma, to drive product decisions, and help define our product and engineering practices from the ground up.
You're a fit if you:
- Get energized turning messy customer problems into elegant product solutions
- Want a real hand in shaping what RetailPath becomes, and not just executing someone else's roadmap
- Take ownership instinctively, without waiting to be asked
- Do your best work in person and are excited to be in the office
This isn't the role for you if you:
- Thrive in established processes and clear org structures
- Need well-defined requirements before you can move
- Prefer execution over decision-making
- Experience solving ambiguous problems and scoping projects independently
- Early stage compatibility of moving fast and experimenting
- Incredible communicator and able to move from technical to high level depending on context
- Ability to design and complete projects end to end with minimal oversight
- Strong frontend (ts/next/react) and backend (python/fastapi/postgres) experience
- Cloud experience with GCP or an equivalent provider
- Know how to wrangle LLMs to do your bidding
- Proficiency with tools like Figma, v0, Claude Design, etc -- or your tool of choice! We are always looking to push our workflows.
- Knowledge of wholesale retail or CPG brands and how they operate in tandem with related systems like EDI, ERPs, and 3PLs
- Have built agents using tools like CrewAI/Pydantic AI/etc
- Comfortable being customer facing
All these are, as the title suggests, "great to have." If this role really excites you and you don't match everything, you should still apply!
- How we think as a team
- How we think as Engineers
- We have a strong in office presence and expect you in office
- Ownership and autonomy: drive projects from start to finish without micromanagement
- Unblock quickly: collaborate directly with customers to keep momentum
- Clarity and organization: communicate status and next steps clearly
- First Week
- Dev environment setup
- Running local builds and tests
- Architecture and business walk through
- First PR merged
- 15 Days
- Clear understanding of the codebase and core architecture
- Taking on small and medium tickets
- 60 Days
- Independently scoping, developing, testing, and shipping features
- Identifying tech debt and proposing remediations
- Building depth in our domain and user pain points
- Beyond
- Leading cross-functional initiatives with customers and internal stakeholders
- Architecting and implementing major features or system improvements
- Mentoring future product engineer hires and contributing to hiring decisions
- Driving technical strategy and influencing product roadmap
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $165,000 per year.
