As a Product Manager, you will own product backlog, manage sprints, improve team efficiency with metrics, and ensure smooth operations between engineering and product.
About the Role
Science Exchange is seeking a Product Manager to drive the day-to-day execution of our product development process. You will work closely with the SVP of Product & Design and our Senior Technical PM to translate product strategy into clear, actionable work that engineering can build and ship.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role — perfect for someone who loves writing excellent tickets, running smooth sprints, ruthlessly managing bugs, and using metrics to improve how the team operates. You will be the operational backbone that keeps engineering aligned, unblocked, and moving quickly.
What You’ll Do
- Own the product backlog end-to-end: write user stories, define acceptance criteria, and prepare clean, ready-to-build tickets for each sprint.
- Run core product rituals — standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retros — ensuring they are efficient, organized, and outcomes-focused.
- Become a product expert: deeply understand workflows, data flows, dependencies, and edge cases to anticipate issues before they hit engineering.
- Track and report key delivery metrics (e.g., rollover, cycle time, velocity, defects) to identify bottlenecks and improve team efficiency.
- Analyze product usage and operational metrics to spot issues, monitor trends, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manage the bug backlog with precision — triage issues quickly, prioritize ruthlessly, and ensure high-impact bugs are addressed.
- Partner with QA to validate features, confirm acceptance criteria, and uphold product quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Operations / Release Manager to ensure full clarity on what is being delivered each sprint and release.
- Work with Design, Customer Success, and Implementation to gather requirements, clarify intent, and translate feedback into actionable improvements.
What You’ll Bring
- 3–5 years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner in SaaS or platform environments.
- Strong experience with Agile delivery, backlog management, and writing clear, detailed user stories.
- Ability to work closely with engineering and understand technical concepts (APIs, data flows, integrations).
- Metrics-driven mindset with the ability to interpret data and use it to improve product and process outcomes.
- Exceptional organization and communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, surface risks early, and keep the team unblocked.
You’ll Thrive Here If You
- Love clarity, structure, and operational excellence.
- Take pride in writing clean, complete tickets and running efficient sprint rituals.
- Are energized by solving problems and improving internal processes.
- Enjoy being the central connector between engineering, QA, product operations, and design.
- Want to grow into a more senior PM role by mastering execution first.
Success Looks Like
- Sprints are well-planned, documented, and aligned with the SVP of Product in weekly 1:1s.
- Engineering always has a ready-to-build backlog with clear, detailed requirements.
- Delivery metrics improve steadily because you identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
- The bug backlog is well-managed, prioritized, and under control.
- You and the Release Manager keep internal teams aligned on what’s shipping and when.
- Product development feels predictable, efficient, and calm — allowing leadership to focus on strategy while trusting execution is in excellent hands.
