Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Product Manager to lead the evolution of underwriting and rating platforms in Personal Lines. This role blends strong product management discipline with deep business analysis and insurance domain expertise to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.
The ideal candidate brings experience in insurance underwriting, rating systems, and process improvement, along with a solid foundation in Agile/SAFe delivery, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with technology teams.
Role Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and maintain the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for underwriting and rating platforms.
- Partner with underwriting leadership and business stakeholders to align product direction with organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting workflows, improve rating accuracy, and drive business value.
- Balance competing priorities to maximize product impact and ROI.
Requirements & Business Analysis
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements for new initiatives and enhancements.
- Translate complex business needs into user stories, process flows, and functional requirements.
- Define clear acceptance criteria to ensure alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions.
- Establish and promote best practices for requirements management and documentation.
Backlog & Agile Delivery
- Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, data insights, and technical considerations.
- Collaborate with Agile teams to ensure stories are well-defined, understood, and ready for development.
- Lead or support Agile ceremonies including PI planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Track progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality features.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, underwriting teams, and technical delivery teams.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather input, drive consensus, and resolve issues.
- Partner with architects and engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, integrated, and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Communicate product updates, priorities, and risks effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
Quality & Validation
- Ensure solutions meet business needs through strong validation practices and acceptance testing.
- Support and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Continuously refine requirements and solutions based on stakeholder feedback and outcomes.
Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Identify and implement improvements to underwriting processes, systems, and user experience.
- Promote Agile and continuous improvement practices across teams.
Key Requirements:
- 5–7+ years of experience in Product Management, Business Analysis, or related roles, preferably in insurance technology.
- Strong understanding of insurance underwriting, rating methodologies, and policy lifecycle.
- Experience working in Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar tools.
- Experience translating business needs into product requirements and delivering solutions end-to-end.
- Familiarity with integrations, APIs, and data flows.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
Preferred
- Experience in P&C commercial lines (Property, Casualty, Specialty).
- Exposure to rating platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Ratabase, or similar).
- Familiarity with underwriting workbenches or submission systems.
- Certifications:
- Agile (CSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe)
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
