As a Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA), Nova Credit leverages its unique data infrastructure, compliance framework, and credit expertise to help lenders fill critical gaps in traditional credit analytics. The company transforms the fragmented universe of consumer financial data into compliant, actionable risk insights through a comprehensive platform designed to increase conversion through expanded coverage, speed, and reliability. Leading organizations, including JPMorgan Chase, PayPal, HSBC, SoFi, Scotiabank, AppFolio, and Yardi, work with Nova Credit to make smarter credit decisions through cash flow underwriting with Cash Atlas™, quickly verify income with Income Navigator, and reach new-to-country consumers with Credit Passport®. With support from investors Canapi Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, General Catalyst, and Index Ventures, as well as industry veterans from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Citi, Nova Credit is revolutionizing the way lending is done. We were recently named in Forbes’ Fintech 50 in 2025 and Built In’s Best Places to Work, 2025.

Nova Credit offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment where you can meaningfully impact the lives of people historically excluded from the credit system. • Get to know the company's working style, goals, mission, and values
  • Become acquainted with your fellow Novans and key cross-functional stakeholders

WITHIN THE FIRST QUARTER, YOU'LL:

  • Dive deeper into current products, key regulatory features, risks, challenges, and areas for future development
  • Work hand in hand with the product, data, and engineering teams on new features, product development, and positioning
  • Review and develop a deep understanding of company policies and procedures that affect customers
  • Get to know the credit reporting and analysis industry - including bureaus, financial institutions, credit providers, and other fintechs
  • Advise the business on product requirements and limitations
  • Get to know our corporate organizational structure and work with key stakeholders on ongoing company organizational management projects

WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR, YOU'LL:

  • Become a key advisor on legal, regulatory, and privacy risks and issues associated with products and features
  • Guide our product, engineering, and data teams in navigating credit reporting and related regulatory frameworks, and serve as a thought partner on new ideas for our product strategies.
  • Help guide the legal aspects of international expansion strategies and required licensing.
  • Advise on implications of data protection and transfer laws
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent implementation of legal guidance and alignment on risk
  • Analyze our legal processes, identify issues, and help the organization become more efficient
  • Keep up on the industry and revise and update policies, forms, and agreements where necessary
  • Work on cross-functional company initiatives and other special projects
  • Help our Go-to-Market  and marketing teams with respect to product positioning and completing regulatory or compliance reviews by customers
  • Help us develop our legal organization as we expand into new regions

YOUR SKILLSET:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, and must be licensed to practice law
  • Experience working with product, data, and engineering teams, guiding product development and assessing risk for consumer-facing financial data products
  • Understanding and familiarity with applicable regulatory and compliance frameworks, including Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and other federal and state financial regulations and requirements; experience implementing internal programs and policies based on these regulations
  • Working knowledge of US privacy laws and requirements, and hands-on experience

$215,000 - $264,000 per year
The above compensation range is for US-based candidates and is dependent on individual experience, skills, education, location, and qualifications.
