NYE also serves as a leading Community-Based Organization (CBO) in the NYC Community Schools initiative, partnering with school leadership to coordinate integrated supports such as expanded learning, family engagement, and wellness services to ensure students and families have access to comprehensive school-based resources.

Position Summary:

The Program Manager oversees 6–8 after-school programs across K–12 schools in the five boroughs, ensuring high-quality operations and program success. Responsibilities include supervising Program Directors, ensuring contract compliance, developing and implementing curriculum and enrichment activities, recruiting and training staff, managing schedules and budgets, and supporting special events.

This role serves as the primary liaison between New York Edge, school principals, funders, and internal teams. The ideal candidate embraces positive youth development, values diversity and inclusion, and is committed to creating engaging, equitable, and enriching experiences for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train Program Directors in recruitment, staffing, scheduling, program design, and the Sports & Arts philosophy.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate program quality and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support Program Directors in developing age-appropriate curricula and enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with school principals, funders, and other stakeholders to ensure strong partnerships and effective communication.
  • Address parent concerns and manage incidents as needed.
  • Promote professional growth of Program Directors and staff through coaching and feedback.
  • Conduct ongoing program evaluations and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other tasks might be assigned as needed.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure all programs comply with DYCD, DOE, DOHMH, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for legal, financial, and grant compliance.
  • Monitor attendance, enrollment, and overall program performance to ensure contract compliance.
  • Coordinate resources and services such as snacks, security, and fingerprinting.
  • Participate in internal meetings with Finance, HR, Compliance, Development, Data, and other departments.

Fiscal & Grants Management

  • Oversee program budgets, expense approvals, and reimbursements in collaboration with the accounting department.
  • Review and approve reports and documentation required by funders.
  • Ensure all sites meet grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
  • Participate in the review and development of new grant-funded program opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison with funders and external partners, representing New York Edge in matters of program quality and compliance.

Leadership & Advocacy

  • Build collaboration among after-school stakeholders to strengthen program sustainability.
  • Serve as an advocate for Program Directors, elevating site-level challenges and sharing promising practices.
  • Provide insight and feedback to inform organizational policies and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Education, Psychology, or Social Work preferred).
  • Minimum of 18 college credits in Education from an accredited institution.
  • Prior supervisory experience in urban education; teaching or afterschool management preferred.
  • Completion of the 15-hour OCFS Health and Safety course within three months of hire (required for DOHMH compliance).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, program evaluation, and fiscal planning.
  • Familiarity with DOE/public school systems and city, state, and federal funding for afterschool programs.
  • Understanding of sports, arts, and academic enrichment programming.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to youth development, equity, and New York Edge’s mission.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and adaptable to remote work environments.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Program Manager will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents and school administration
