Director of Project Management, Marketing  

Role Summary

We are seeking a Director, Marketing Project Management, to help oversee the delivery of exceptional marketing campaigns and projects, while helping manage daily operations for the Marketing team. This role will be responsible for managing marketing projects (state and campaign launches, advertising & sporting tentpoles, sponsorship partner onboarding, etc.), ensuring that each is successfully kicked off, key milestones and dependencies tracked, reviewed, and approved by the right stakeholders, and then delivered on time and on scope.  The Director will develop new and refine existing processes and ensure that work moves through the organization successfully with the least amount of friction.

A successful candidate will be passionate about marketing, thrive in a fast-paced, evolving setting, and work effectively with cross-functional teams (creative, production, media, strategy, field marketing, public relations, compliance leads, etc.) while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude, and consultative approach. They will be an analytical and organized thinker and a clear communicator with the ability to problem solve, understand, and express tradeoffs and prioritize efforts based on business KPIs. Their documentation skills will be excellent and adaptable across a variety of project management systems. Key Functions:

  • Develop and maintain marketing project plans and timelines for new state launches and key marketing milestone events (Superbowl, March Madness, etc.)
  • Liaise with marketing functions and key business stakeholders to ensure the marketing deliverables for new state launches are met on time and, where applicable, on budget. Own launch-related marketing deliverables such as facilitate licensing and registration of marketing vendors.
  • Recognize and share project risks; manage & mediate projects issues; develop solutions with confidence
  • Effectively communicate expectations to internal teams and vendors to facilitate the efficient flow of associated work throughout the organization
  • Become a trusted advisor to senior leaders; make and maintain strong relationships across the enterprise
  • Lead regular check-ins and weekly meetings with key stakeholders. Create, maintain and distribute project documentation, meeting minutes and status updates in a timely manner.
  • Represent marketing in weekly internal state readiness calls


  • Deploy process, project, or change management expertise:
    • Interpret business challenges, create process mapping, analyze potential improvements and translate these into best practices and solutions
    • Develop new and refine existing system workflows to drive efficiency and eliminate bottlenecks in the process
    • Be the PM voice in discussions related to emerging marketing needs that impact team processes and resources.
    • Implement short and long-term programs and processes to optimize department workflow across all Marketing services, which may include resource management.
  • Responsible and responsive: stay on top of their own and others’ deliverables

 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively (verbally and written) with staff, business stakeholders and senior management
  • 7-10 years’ experience in advertising or marketing project management, preferably in an agency or agency-style environment; experience with and understanding of marketing teams and processes
  • Superior critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills that leverage both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong interpersonal skills: a team player, positive and innovative thinker
  • Highly motivated with a high level of initiative, ability to work independently in support of marketing goals and business objectives
  • Ability to get other people to work within the timeframe established and manage multiple projects effortlessly under tight deadlines.
  • Seasoned professional able to work calmly under pressure
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries, a plus.
  • Comfortable presenting to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Energized a by fast-moving industry and organization
  • Enjoys the world of sports
