Scrum Master/Project Manager (Turbonomic, Inc., White Plains, New York): As member of Software Architecture team, will plan, initiate and manage information technology (IT) Agile and Scrum methodology projects. This position is a new role and is responsible for guiding the Software Architecture team on using and applying Agile/Scrum software practices and values. The position will continuously assess the Scrum Maturity and organization of the Software Architecture team to achieve higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and the organization. The Scrum Master/Project Manager will also monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards and cost targets are met and will serve as a liaison between technical and business aspects of projects. 

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Chair and lead daily meetings for up to 4 teams to assess project status of software development projects.
  • Schedule and moderate special project meetings that address and solve any technical project issues to ensure the project timeline.
  • Identify and create a risk and dependency list for each technical project and implement updates based on the status meetings.
  • Guide the Software Architecture team in ensuring releases meet deadlines. This includes working closely with delivery teams to establish expectations and ensure tasks remain on track.
  • Produce and speak to metrics in support of feature, team and release status and trends. Report status and metrics to upper management.
  • Administer the project tracking tool and create technical scripts as needed for successful operation according to company processes.
  • Develop and share technical queries and reports.
  • Assist with writing or splitting user stories, adapting software product visions, ordering software product backlog items and with software release planning. 

Note: This is a technical lead position responsible for providing guidance to a project team including work and resource allocation. Does not have hiring or firing authority over Team members but provides assistance and recommendations in managing resource capacity and allocations during the course of a project. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical or quantitative field and 5 years of experience working on a software development team performing software quality assurance and testing. Must also have industry experience with: (i) Scrum Master Certification. (ii) Demonstrated expert level understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban concepts and technology practices including: (a) Practices: sprints, estimation, prioritization, burndown tracking, and release planning/scoping; (b) Ceremonies: daily stand-ups, demonstrations, retrospectives, Scrum of Scrums; and (c) Concepts: servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency. (iii) Exposure to and understanding of software delivery, particularly in the software environment with an understanding of development and test environments. (iv) Strong skills in tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence, and issue tracking systems utilizing Jira. (v) Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of iterative development, software development procedures and software release processes for enterprise software. (vi) Demonstrated strong analytical and communication skills, a risk mitigation mindset and a track record of exhibiting appropriate levels of urgency. (vii) Demonstrated experience as a project product owner prioritizing and grooming the project backlog and agreeing upon the acceptance criteria. (viii) Track record contributing to product roadmap planning, project scheduling and release management and guiding and mentoring teams to use Agile/Scrum practices and values. We have an office right across from Grand Central Station and another larger office right outside the city in White Plains NY.
