About the Role
We are looking for a Journal (Associate) Publisher to oversee a portfolio of journals in the earth sciences; and take project oversight of select initiatives and projects in the team. The role is full time and based out of one of our key publishing offices in US or Europe, with support for hybrid working arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Journal development: you will balance maintaining the superior performance of a portfolio of titles with supporting goals around accelerated growth of quality content.
- Editor appointments: you will carefully manage new editor appointments and ensure your journals have editorial structures that are diverse and dynamic.
- Community engagement: you will engage with customers through careful relationship-management and regular communication. You will share customer insight from your region with the team to help us provide products and services that your community wants.
- Brand visibility: you will improve the visibility of your journal brands and our company tools and services through effective outreach and keeping an eye on the competition.
- Project management: you will champion select initiatives in the team, following up on actions and recommendations and ensuring team engagement and delivery.
- Teamwork: you will work closely with colleagues to help deliver on collaborative projects and goals.
Requirements
- Are fluent in English (verbal and written communication).
- Have a minimum education to bachelor's degree level. An educational background in a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
- Have work experience of 2-3 years in a publishing role or in academic research is desirable. The role level offered will depend on experience.
- Desirable qualities: Pro-active, good negotiating and interpersonal skills; flexible and adaptable.
- Able to work efficiently and productively with colleagues and customers at various levels, in various locations, and from diverse cultures, and be a role model for others.
- Have a can-do attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success.
