The Role:
We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Quality Engineer to join our team at a high-volume engine manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring product quality, reducing warranty, improving quality performance or part and process, and supporting plant quality systems and certification objectives. The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and cross-functional teams to solve problems, drive containment and corrective actions, and strengthen overall quality performance. This will be a 3rd shift position (10pm to 6am).
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
  • Drive and/or support problem-solving activities
  • Support initiatives to maintain BIQ 4 certification for the plant
  • Develop and maintain Product Quality Standards for assigned role
  • Issue Quality Alerts as applicable
  • Support warranty reduction initiatives
  • Participate in the change management process
  • Communicate emerging issues for responsible components on a daily basis
  • Create and coordinate engine quality holds
  • Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills
  • Participate in high-risk supplier phone calls
  • Validate scrap disposition
  • Initiate requests and follow up with Engineering on issuance of temporary work orders
  • Support APQP and supplier readiness activities, including PPAP
  • Issue SPPSs and cost recoveries as appropriate
  • Support *SPRTS resolution as needed
  • Work with Engineering on PRTS issues
  • Support the PTR process and document concerns
  • Support and initiate controlled shipping activity
  • Attend/support production and quality meetings

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • MUST have the ability to work 3rd shift
  • Ability to work weekends and over time
  • Experience with PFMEA, PRTS, SPC, GD&T and Control Plans
  • Strong problem-solving and corrective action capability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external suppliers
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • High integrity and strong customer focus
  • Drive for results and sound technical judgment

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Quality Engineering experience
  • Knowledge/experience in engine machining/assembly manufacturing
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and Red X (or Six Sigma)
  • Red X Apprentice or Journeyman Certification
  • Strong technical and functional expertise in quality systems and manufacturing processes
