Love helping ambitious New Zealand companies win in the world's largest and most competitive market? Now we're talking.

We're looking for a Regional Marketing and Communications Consultant to join NZTE's North America team.

This isn't a traditional marketing role. You won't wait for briefs to arrive or spend days endlessly refining PowerPoint slides. You’ll be expected to get close to the business, spot what is needed and help make it happen.

You will work with Trade Commissioners, Business Development Managers and exporters to help turn strategy into commercial results. You'll become embedded in industry sector teams, helping them identify opportunities, shape plans, solve problems and connect with the right expertise at the right time.

Think of yourself as part marketing adviser, part project manager, part relationship manager and connector. One day you might be developing the marketing approach for a major conference activation.  The next, you could be helping shape the implementation of a sector growth plan, developing targeted content, or creating collateral to help New Zealand exporters succeed in North America.

We work with innovative and forward-thinking companies, helping them grow internationally. Our people are based in 37 offices, working across 24 time zones and 40 languages to support New Zealand businesses in over 100 countries.  

Across North America, we help Kiwi companies grow in some of the world's most dynamic and fiercely competitive markets. We work from offices in New York, Vancouver, Washington DC, San Francisco and Santa Monica, and this role can be based in any one of them.

 

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be the primary Marketing and Communications business partner for two sector teams in North America. 

That means: 

  • Embedding with your sectors’ Trade Commissioners and Business Development Managers to build trusted relationships. 
  • Leading MarComs delivery, including events, trade missions, conference booths, campaigns, and integrated marketing initiatives.  
  • Being the connector between your sector teams and the rest of the Marketing, Communications and Solutions team which includes research, digital solutions, content and event management specialists.
  • Picking up some region wide marketing and communication responsibilities which may include trade media, social media or brand presence.  

The best relationships, opportunities and insights are built face-to-face, so regular travel to your appointed regional offices will be part of the role. You may also travel to special events and trade shows across North America. 

Success in this role means your sector teams see you as a trusted commercial partner, marketing activity is tied to commercial priorities, and good ideas move from discussion to delivery without drama.

 

What You'll Bring

You'll likely bring:

  • Solid experience in marketing, communications, event marketing, account management, or related customer-facing roles.  
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.  
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust across a range of stakeholders.      
  • Strong commercial curiosity and judgement.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to move initiatives from idea to execution while balancing competing priorities.  
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Please note that salary range for this position is influenced by the specific metropolis of the applicant (Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and San Francisco) and can be provided upon request.  An indicative compensation range for the position is USD 103,000 - 118,000 per annum plus paid parking (in Los Angeles only) and a medical insurance plan, including dental and vision coverage.  

    • For the Los Angeles office this is also inclusive of parking, which if not desired, its value may be taken as cash-in-lieu.
    • You may enroll in this group medical plan (pre-tax benefit) and the per-pay-period cash value of compensation will be adjusted accordingly. Alternatively, if medical plan enrollment is not desired, its value may be taken as cash-in-lieu of coverage.    

 

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Employment visa sponsorship is not available.
