This position is responsible for the design, administration, governance, and continuous improvement of sales compensation programs that support business growth and align sales behaviors with company objectives. The role serves as a subject matter expert for sales incentive programs, using advanced analysis, modeling, and business judgment to develop effective compensation solutions, evaluate plan performance, and advise leaders on complex sales compensation decisions across the organization.

You will...
  • Design, develop, and administer sales compensation plans that align with revenue, growth, retention, and other strategic business objectives.
  • Partner with Sales and business leaders to understand sales strategies, organizational structures, roles, and desired behaviors and translate them into effective incentive plan designs.
  • Analyze plan effectiveness, payout results, quota performance, attainment distributions, cost of sales compensation, and other metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop complex financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate proposed plan designs, quota changes, incentive rates, thresholds, accelerators, caps, and other plan mechanics.
  • Provide compensation recommendations for sales roles, including plan eligibility, target incentive opportunities, pay mix, and positioning within established compensation structures.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales Operations, HR, Payroll, and HRIS to ensure accurate plan administration, incentive calculations, data integrity, and timely payments.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of sales compensation plan documents, governance standards, eligibility rules, and operating procedures.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations of sales compensation data and payouts, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and control.
  • Advise leaders and stakeholders on complex sales compensation issues, explaining analytical findings and tradeoffs and influencing decisions through data and sound compensation practices.
  • Monitor market practices and relevant regulatory requirements affecting sales compensation and recommend changes to maintain competitive, equitable, and compliant programs.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects involving sales compensation, including new business initiatives, organizational changes, system enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Prepare clear analyses, presentations, and recommendations for senior leaders and other governance forums as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Compensation team members to ensure consistency across compensation programs and share knowledge, tools, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Economics, or related field required.
  • Seven (7) plus years of progressive compensation experience, with significant experience in sales compensation or incentive compensation required.
  • Compensation (CCP) and/or Global Remuneration (GRP) certification preferred or working toward attaining accreditation.
  • Experience with Workday and/or sales compensation technology required.
  • Experience with PayFactors preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Advanced analytical skills using large, complex data sets to build models, identify trends, and develop recommendations.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales compensation concepts, including plan design, quota setting, pay mix, commissions, accelerators, thresholds, and payout mechanics.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel proficiency, including scenario modeling and compensation cost analysis.
  • Ability to assess complex business issues, exercise independent judgment, and develop practical solutions consistent with compensation strategy.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate sales strategies into effective compensation recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate complex compensation concepts clearly and persuasively to Sales, Finance, HR, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with compensation data, calculations, and confidential information.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel capability required.
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive compensation and employee information.
  • Working knowledge of EEO, FLSA, and other applicable laws and regulations affecting compensation practices.
  • Keeps abreast of sales compensation market practices, incentive trends, and pay-for-performance approaches.
  • Ability to translate complex analyses into concise executive-ready presentations and recommendations.
  • Ability to identify process gaps and implement practical, scalable improvements.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing requests, and exercise sound judgment within established governance.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong planning, problem-solving, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and quickly execute time-sensitive and ad hoc analyses.

Salary: $111,000-$150,000

This role is bonus eligible based on individual and company performance.
