Our sellers are key to how customers and partners understand Microsoft’s products and strategies, but how do we align the conversations of thousands of sellers with each other and with the company’s strategy? Making sure that the sellers are having the right conversations at the right time is key to the company’s success, and the Incentive Compensation team connects strategy to seller behavior in one of the most important ways: by determining how sellers get paid.


The Worldwide Operations & Regional Delivery Team is a part of the Sales Design and Incentive (SDI) team. The group’s mission is to enable Strategy, Motivate Sellers, and define Reward Results. In pursuit of this mission, the team designs and implements variable incentive-based compensation plans for more than 40,000 sellers, sales leaders and consultants across Microsoft. The team specializes in Incentive Compensation at Microsoft, responsible for aligning incentive plans and targets (quotas) to motivate seller behavior and drive the company's strategies.


As a Sales Incentives Compensation Manager, you are vital to global execution excellence and recognized by stakeholders for driving insights, growth, and solutions. You are responsible for effectively partnering with regional leadership within your portfolio, effectively managing key objectives and representing the organization through strong partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Approve seller compensation payouts and manual adjustments, ensuring accuracy, eligibility, and compliance with business rules and policies.
  • Manage and troubleshoot compensation system issues, including issue resolution and data integrity reviews.
  • Review operational and vendor performance metrics to identify risks, address issues, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain operational playbooks, knowledge bases, and policy guidance to support consistent execution.
  • Provide reporting insights and recommendations to mitigate risks and resolve operational blockers.
  • Partner with Change Management teams to support incentive compensation programs and go-to-market initiatives.
  • Drive process simplification, risk reduction, and operational efficiency through scalable solutions.
  • Support incentive compensation system integrations and contribute to workstream prioritization.
  • Prepare and deliver updates for business reviews, planning discussions, and stakeholder communications regarding policies, system changes, and compensation activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field AND 5+ years' experience in compensation, business management and operations, finance and analytics, human resources and people analytics, marketing, or sales strategy
    • OR equivalent experience
 
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience delivering results in agile environments and influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing executive-level communications and translating complex information into clear, actionable messaging.
  • Ability to drive alignment and execution across teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting public sector or government customer engagements.

Sales Compensation IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
