Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
Tempus is seeking a highly analytical and technically savvy Sales Strategy and Operations Associate to serve as the operational backbone of our Life Science business. This is not a passive reporting role; we are looking for a builder and a system owner. You will own our critical sales infrastructure (CPQ/DealHub), lead the modernization of our commission process (SPIFF), and partner directly with Finance and General Managers to forecast the health of the business.
Hybrid Role - 3 days at Headquarters in Chicago
The Ideal Candidate:
You have at least 5 years of experience in Sales Ops or Revenue Ops. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, you love automating manual tasks, and you view AI not as a buzzword, but as a tool to make yourself 10x more efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Forecasting & Financial Partnering
Bookings to Revenue: Own the forecast triangulation. You will utilize Gong to forecast sales bookings and partner with Finance to model recognized revenue based on signed contracts and project delivery timelines.
Rhythm of Business: Support the weekly, monthly, and quarterly business review cadence by providing accurate data on pipeline health, deal velocity, and forecast variance.
2. AI, Automation & Efficiency
Agent Building: Leverage internal and external AI tools to automate routine operational tasks. We want you to build "agents" that work for you.
Process Architecture: Constantly audit our workflows to identify bottlenecks. If a process is manual and repetitive, your job is to automate it.
3. CPQ & Deal Desk Ownership (DealHub)
System Ownership: Serve as the primary administrator and owner of our CPQ tool (DealHub). You will manage the configuration, pricing logic, and approval workflows to ensure a frictionless quoting process for the sales team.
Deal Strategy: Partner with General Managers (GMs) to structure complex deals, analyze pricing trends, and ensure our approval matrices align with business goals.
Data Integrity: Ensure all booking data flows correctly from DealHub into Salesforce to support accurate reporting.
4. Commission Management & Optimization (SPIFF)
Process Modernization: Lead the implementation and rollout of SPIFF (our new commission management software), moving the organization away from manual spreadsheets to automated, transparent payouts.
SIP & Admin: Collaborate with leadership to design and write Sales Incentive Plans (SIPs) and short-term SPIFs. You will own the monthly commission calculation process, ensuring 100% accuracy and timely payouts.
Transparency: Serve as the point of contact for the sales team regarding commission inquiries, providing clear reporting on attainment and payouts.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, or Finance within a high-growth tech or healthcare environment.
Technical Stack:
Required: Advanced proficiency in Salesforce (reports, dashboards, object relationships).
Highly Preferred: Experience administering a CPQ tool (DealHub experience is a major plus).
Preferred: Experience with Commission tools (SPIFF, CaptivateIQ) and Revenue Intelligence tools (Gong).
Analytical Rigor: Expert-level Excel/Google Sheets skills. You can build complex models to track revenue recognition and commission payouts without error.
Soft Skills: High adaptability. You thrive in environments where priorities shift quickly. You are confident enough to push back on leadership when data contradicts intuition.
What We Offer:
Join us and contribute to shaping the future of our life science sales operations. You'll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your contributions are valued and can significantly impact our commercial success. We provide competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.
$80,000 - 110,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
We are an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
