Account Manager
Description
Hydrant is seeking an account manager with experience in retail for the North East region. The ideal candidate will have superior knowledge of retail success across all channels. You will be responsible for a go-to-market strategy that will increase customer loyalty, distribution growth, and company profitability by continuing and building relationships with new and current accounts.
This is the perfect role for hungry, team-players who want to develop as leaders of CPG companies or start their own businesses. You will be key in the growth of Hydrant across the United States and will be critical for developing Hydrant's retail presence.
Responsibilities
- Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain an organized list of key accounts in the territory
- Visiting and maintaining relationships in-store
- 80% of work will be completed in the field
- Sell Hydrant brand to retailers in coordination with local distributors and brokers
- Call on key accounts on an ongoing basis to review in-store priorities
- Enhance the business by gaining new points of distribution
- Educate account managers on proper and effective merchandising:
- Proper shelf management positions
- Rack, equipment, POS placements, and display build-out
- Manage and assist the team in the demo and experiential events
- Deliver presentations internally and externally for key stakeholders
- Market, Channel, & Category Understanding:
- Review and analyze sales data to effectively and strategically manage accounts
- Identify and communicate category growth opportunities within customer offering
- Monitor the competitors’ brands and products to understand trends and opportunities
- Deliver presentations for internal and external audiences
- Financial Management:
- Apply a strong understanding of profitability goals, priorities, and account P&L when managing activities and promotions
- Manage customer P&L to meet company profitability goals
- Negotiate with retailers to improve profitability during promo and new item planning
- Work with demand planning to develop accurate sales forecasts
Requirements
- 2+ years at a retail or distribution company
- Ambitious people, with a desire to learn and grow rapidly
- A People person with strong communication skills
- Willingness to get hands dirty and takes pride in going above and beyond the call of duty
- Analytical and detail-oriented to maximize success
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally and hold vendors accountable
