Overview

The Senior Manager, Partnerships is responsible for securing and executing marketing partnerships with leading brands that drive digital subscriber acquisition for tronc’s portfolio of news brands which includes the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and New York Daily News.

 

The role will define the go-to-market strategy for subscription partnerships, including the identification of target industries/verticals; developing partnership approaches and products that create mutually beneficial alliances; and also consider how subscription marketing partnerships align with, and contribute to, the company’s broader strategic partner ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential marketing partners and develop, build and maintain a robust pipeline of strategic partnership discussions and opportunities.
  • Create proposals, pitch decks and accompanying materials used in approaches to potential partners.
  • Pitch to and interface with senior level marketing and business executives at major brands.
  • Negotiate with partners to ensure activity is adequately structured to generate new digital subscribers.
  • Forecast and model potential partner activity to quantify the scope of opportunities
  • As opportunities mature into confirmed campaigns, the role will be responsible for managing the activity through to execution, working with Creative, Operations, Product and Technology partners within the organization.
  • Compose and present partnership channel reporting and analysis to executive stakeholders within the organization.
  • Act as the primary contact person for marketing partners and facilitate partner requests and requirements, ensuring partners enjoy a positive and mutually beneficial experience working with tronc’s news brands.
  • Work to and achieve digital subscriber acquisition targets via marketing partnerships.

 

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in marketing, business, communications, journalism or related field
  • MBA preferable
  • 7-10+ years in roles building strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and/or business/corporate development roles
  • 3+ years working with digital marketing teams
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience pitching to top-level marketing contacts via phone, email and in-person
  • Proven track record of establishing contacts, negotiation, building successful marketing partnerships and working to defined KPIs and targets
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Comfortable with general web analytics (Google Analytics, Omniture/Site Catalyst, etc)
  • Experience in reporting and presenting to senior executives (C-suite level)
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills; able to interpret and present data to provide insightful, tactical recommendations
  • Must be able to travel as required
