The Role:

Blue Owl is looking for a Vice President to join its Legal team. This role will be based in New York and assist in providing legal coverage for SEC reporting, corporate governance, capital markets transactions and investor relations for Blue Owl.

The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple projects and who is excited about being part of a Legal team that covers a broad range of issues. We are looking for candidates who are intellectually curious and interested in the intersection of law, technology, and finance.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice regarding securities law disclosure/compliance, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and SEC registration statements.
  • Draft annual meeting proxy statement and provide legal support for annual and special meetings.
  • Review earnings releases, investor materials, management presentations and other communications, including press releases and social media.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing meeting materials for the Board of Directors and Board Committees.
  • Provide guidance on NYSE rules and compliance.
  • Provide legal support on public and private debt and equity securities financings.
  • Identify and address legal risks and provide proactive and practical solutions to ensure compliance and mitigate potential issues.
  • Monitor and advise on relevant legal and regulatory developments and undertake projects to promote compliance with such developments.
  • Work closely and develop strong working relationships and with internal stakeholders, including the accounting, compliance and investor relations teams.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities for the Legal team.
Responsibilities:
  • 3-5 years of experience at major law firm or in-house legal department working on capital markets transactions and SEC reporting
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • At least one active bar membership/license to practice law in any state
  • Demonstrated drive for results and ability to prioritize risks and projects to focus on what’s important in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail is a must
  • Strong working knowledge of Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solutions-oriented problem solver
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done
  • Team player with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to learn more
  • Prefer prior experience with companies in the financial sector
  • Familiarity with equity-based compensation plans, executive compensation matters and Section 16 reporting a plus

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York based position will be $190,000 - $200,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
