Senior Analyst or Associate, Business Development (Talent Pipeline)

As a Senior Analyst or Associate within our Business Development team, you will help drive the growth of ICONIQ Investment Management by identifying, engaging, and cultivating relationships with prospective clients. Operating at the intersection of relationship development, strategic analysis, and market intelligence, you will play a critical role in helping expand ICONIQ’s community of influential entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and families.

You will partner closely with colleagues across Business Development, Client Advisory, Investment Management, Capital Markets, and Operations to develop thoughtful outreach strategies, evaluate prospective client opportunities, and support the firm’s long-term growth objectives.

Core Responsibilities for All Candidates

You will support the Business Development team across a broad range of sourcing, prospecting, relationship development, and strategic initiatives, including:

  • Conducting research to identify prospective clients and key relationship opportunities across the firm’s network and target markets.
  • Monitoring industry developments, fundraising activity, liquidity events, executive transitions, mergers and acquisitions, and other relevant market activity.
  • Analyzing prospective client balance sheets, investment portfolios, holding structures, and other financial materials to identify areas where ICONIQ can provide value.
  • Preparing prospect materials, relationship summaries, meeting briefs, and customized presentations to support outreach efforts.
  • Maintaining accurate prospect data, activity tracking, and reporting within Salesforce and other business development systems.
  • Collaborating closely with Client Advisory, Investment Management, Capital Markets, and Operations teams to support prospect engagement efforts.
  • Supporting special projects, market mapping exercises, strategic analyses, and other growth initiatives.

If You Are a Senior Analyst

Senior Analysts take on increasing ownership of sourcing efforts, prospect analysis, and business development initiatives. In addition to the core responsibilities, you will:

  • Independently manage prospect research and qualification efforts across priority markets and target client segments.
  • Develop thoughtful analyses of prospective client portfolios and financial situations to help identify opportunities for engagement.
  • Support relationship development efforts through meeting preparation, follow-up coordination, and prospect pipeline management.
  • Partner with senior team members to develop customized outreach strategies and client materials.
  • Analyze business development activity and pipeline metrics to help inform team strategy and priorities.
  • Mentor junior team members on research processes, systems, and business development best practices.

Senior Analyst Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in investment management, wealth management, private equity, investment banking, consulting, business development, or related financial services roles.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.

If You Are an Associate

Associates deepen their role as strategic partners and relationship builders. You will:

  • Help drive business development initiatives from sourcing through engagement, working closely with senior team members to advance prospective client relationships.
  • Develop and execute targeted outreach strategies designed to expand ICONIQ’s network and deepen relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with prospective clients, referral sources, and strategic partners, representing the firm externally.
  • Analyze market trends and industry developments, presenting findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead development of customized prospect materials, business cases, and strategic presentations.
  • Partner with Investment Management and Client Advisory teams to align prospect engagement efforts with client needs and ICONIQ capabilities.
  • Coach junior teammates, improve team processes, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Business Development function.

Associate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in investment management, wealth management, private equity, investment banking, consulting, business development, or related client-facing financial services roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Strong commercial mindset and business development aptitude.
  • Experience engaging with sophisticated stakeholders and decision-makers.

Location

Applicants are expected to work onsite in our New York or San Francisco office in accordance with our hybrid working policy.


Compensation Range: ICONIQ is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At ICONIQ, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation terms. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $105,000 - $120,000 for Senior Analysts and $130,000 - $150,000 for Associates, together with a discretionary bonus, health insurance, paid time off, 401(k) participation with a company matching program, wellness stipend, personal education allowance, and commuter benefits program.
