Our biggest brand, PEOPLE, is looking for a Senior Art Director to work closely with our Senior Creative Director, marketing and editorial leads to design content and promotional assets for a premium digital app. In this role you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create elevated designs and help maintain intuitive, scalable, and always-on-brand templates that support our content and marketing strategies to engage and delight our audiences.

As Senior Art Director at the PEOPLE App, you will be responsible for guiding and directing a multidisciplinary team, designing the look and feel of various brand elements and refining and iterating on those ideas for various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned design projects and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets. 

  • Work alongside the Senior Creative Director to set the PEOPLE App’s overall look and feel, and ensure execution across teams is on brand.

  • Lead the creation of thoughtfully designed digital editorial and marketing content and graphic templates that seamlessly integrate with the App’s UI and overall brand.

  • Collaborate with product design team, commerce and growth teams.

  • Help maintain digital brand guides.

  • Provide creative direction to other team members, ensure brand standards are communicated, and the appropriate level of creative execution is met consistently.

  • Use requirements and stakeholder feedback to design premium visual assets, such as digital editorial static and motion designs and content templates, on an ongoing basis.

Collaborate with Marketing and Editorial Teams

  • Lead visual direction of marketing, audience engagement, and editorial initiatives

  • Present design solutions and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Help build and maintain a happy and creative culture within the design team. 

  • Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details.

Process Management

  • Keep project management tickets up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, monitor communication from stakeholders, and meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years as an Art Director, 5-10 years as a designer

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong typography skills

  • Strong editorial design skills

  • Strong design system skills

  • Working knowledge of motion graphics

  • Proficient in Figma

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, InDesign)

  • Publishing industry experience

  • Branding experience

  • Self-motivated

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A team player ready to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $115,000 - $130,000

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
