New York Life has formed a new Client Growth and Retention business team to accelerate enterprise growth by developing and operating programs that help access new pools of customers, as well as programs that deepen customer relationships/ retention.
The Senior Manager - Strategic Program Management & Chief of Staff is a critical strategic partner to the Client Growth & Retention leadership team, responsible for driving strategic alignment, orchestrating enterprise-level initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence. In this highly visible role, the Chief of Staff will help shape multi-year strategic roadmaps, oversee executive communications and business governance processes, and enable leadership focus on the highest-value priorities. This role requires a proactive, analytical, and relationship-driven leader who can navigate complex stakeholder environments and deliver clarity, structure, and execution discipline.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Planning & Execution• Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop and maintain multi-year strategic roadmaps by ensuring alignment between short-term operational objectives and longer-term strategic initiatives.• Track and communicate progress against strategic priorities and business goals.• Lead the planning, coordination, and follow-up for quarterly business reviews, department wide meetings, strategy offsites, and leadership meetings.• Manage departmental rhythm of the business, including leadership meeting agendas, communications, business calendar, milestones, and operating cadences.• Design and maintain a standardized internal communications system - developing core message guides, update formats, and communication playbooks that ensure clear, aligned, and consistent information flow across the department.• Lead or support special projects and strategic workstreams as assigned by the Head of Client Growth & Retention.
Executive Communications• Develop high-impact presentations, reports, and executive materials for senior leadership meetings and enterprise strategy discussions.• Synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives and visual materials that drive decision-making and engagement.
Cross-Functional Coordination• Serve as a central point of contact between the CG&R leadership team and other key functions (e.g., Finance, Technology, Marketing, Distribution).
Organizational Effectiveness & Engagement• Increase employee engagement in an effort to build relationships both within Client Growth & Retention and across other functional areas to drive increased productivity and collaboration.• Champion a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture within the Client Growth & Retention
What You'll Bring: • Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field and/or equivalent experience. Advance degree preferred• 5-7 years of strategic planning, management consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, or Chief of Staff experience• Experience in managing executive-level communications; Outstanding PowerPoint/presentation skills including development of reader decks• Excellent written and oral communication skills• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with ability to interpret business performance data• Experience in change management, organizational effectiveness, or culture-building initiatives• Highly organized, efficient, analytical and creative• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make decisions• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams without direct reporting responsibilities• Experience and comfort working with senior leaders• Demonstrated ability to cultivate an inclusive environment and effectively partner across diverse teams

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
