What is special about this role?
As a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer, you will be working with a team of talented bioinformatics engineers and scientists to create and maintain bioinformatics pipelines to advance Helix’s mission. You will play a leading role in designing and implementing reliable and innovative solutions in a highly regulated environment.
As a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and document bioinformatics pipelines in a regulated environment.
- Architect and maintain supporting infrastructure in AWS.
- Analyze and generate data insights to support the development and improvements of existing and new bioinformatics algorithms.
- Design and develop test cases and test scripts.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of regulatory documentation as part of the design control process.
About you:
- B.S. or M.S. Technical Degree (e.g. Computer Science, Bioinformatics or similar).
- 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with developing NGS bioinformatics pipelines.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Experience with Cloud computing environment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Open to learning new skills and not afraid to step outside of the comfort zone.
Pluses:
- Experience with software development under CLIA/CAP regulations and/or FDA regulations is a big plus.
- Experience writing test cases and test scripts.
- Experience with Jira and JAMA.
- Experience with Claude Code and development with AI.

Expected Pay For This Role:
There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1) Base Salary 2) Annual Bonus 3) Equity
- Expected Helix Base: $134,000 - $179,000
- Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 10% of your annual salary
- Equity: We offer generous equity at Helix. If you receive a Helix offer your recruiter will book dedicated time with you to educate you on our equity model.
