Responsibilities
We're looking for a talented commercial transactions attorney to join our team to support our commercial business in France & Southern Europe with flexibility to support in other EMEA countries, too. In this role, you will work with the sales team, internal business partners, and other Legal team members to review and respond to requests from current and prospective customers.
As a valued member of this team, you'll play a pivotal role drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements with Atlassian's enterprise customers. You will also have the chance to contribute to team projects and to our positive remote team culture. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals looking to further develop their skills and become a member of the extended Go-to-Market team, while supporting strategic transactions for Atlassian - a $5 billion publicly-traded Software company with over 12,000 employees.
Your future team
Atlassian's Legal Team is seen within Atlassian as an impactful business partner, serving our business with practical and business-oriented advice and solutions. Our team is highly collaborative and supportive - we love working with each other and cheer on our teammates successes.
You will report directly to the Director Commercial Legal - DACH, France & Southern Europe. You will have lots of opportunities to work closely with other colleagues in EMEA and globally, both on the day job and on project work.
In this role, you'll get to:
  • Be an active part of our Commercial Legal Team, which supports Atlassian's enterprise sales business.
  • Negotiate enterprise cloud and license agreements for Atlassian's products and services, including master services agreements.
  • Conduct analysis and support tender processes with public sector customers.
  • Partner and collaborate with other teams, such as our privacy, risk and compliance, security, finance, accounting, product and sales teams to facilitate contract reviews and internal process improvement, and development and enhancement of our customer-facing forms.
  • Providing pragmatic, business-minded guidance on contract-related issues, ensuring compliance with local laws.
  • Developing support materials and providing trainings to educate our direct sales and channel teams on contract terms and other legal issues.
  • Build trusted relationships with our sales colleagues in the region, being extremely curious about our company's business priorities and proactive in suggesting solutions.
  • Advise business and corporate functions in the region in close collaboration with our specialist teams in the U.S. and EMEA.
  • Contribute to projects improving contract processes and sales enablement.

On your first day, we'll expect you to:
  • Have a French or Spanish legal qualification with 8+ years PQE.
  • Have experience handling b2b contract negotiations and have commercial acumen.
  • Be able to communicate fluently in French and in English, other languages are a plus.
  • Have an understanding of related topics like data privacy.
  • Be curious about Atlassian's products, culture, and business model.
  • Be enthusiastic to work in an international environment, learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Have a minimal base knowledge of privacy matters, including GDPR.
  • Be curious about using AI in your daily work and about legal aspects of AI.

We appreciate as a plus:
  • Experience in the SaaS space and knowledge about data sovereignty requirements and developments in France.
  • Knowledge/experience in other legal areas.
  • Experience with public sector and defense customers, public tenders, and financial institutions.
  • Additional legal qualifications in other EMEA jurisdictions, especially in Spain, Italy, or Portugal.
