As our Senior Commercial Counsel, you’ll be the legal backbone of our sales motion: responsible for reviewing, redlining, and negotiating contracts with a wide variety of customers and partners. You’ll work closely with Sales and Leadership to keep deals moving while protecting Profound’s interests.

What you’ll do
  • Review, redline, and negotiate a variety of outbound (sell-side) commercial agreements, procurement agreements, partnership agreements, and bespoke business development deals

  • Act as the primary legal contact for Sales to facilitate the entire deal process from A to Z through contract execution

  • Create and maintain contract templates and playbooks for efficiency

  • Implement and continue to iterate on the company’s AI legal ops strategy

  • Monitor data privacy, AI, and IP regulations to provide actionable guidance

Who you are
  • 6-10 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years negotiating B2B SaaS contracts at a global in-house data-centric SaaS organization with high deal velocity.

  • Above all, you must have excellent judgment and critical thinking skills.

  • You have an obsession with internal client and external customer happiness, with a demonstrated history of promoting scalable processes and procedures.

  • You are independent, patient, thoughtful, and adept at managing shifting priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment, but at the same time possess the judgment to know when and how to escalate issues.

  • Ability to manage the sales contract review process autonomously

  • Skilled in the transactional aspects of GDPR

  • Pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk and business needs

  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying legal concepts to non-lawyers

  • Experience in-house at a high-growth AI/data-centric products is a major plus

  • Licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Location

This is an on-site role based in our Union Square, NYC office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $200,000 to $240,000. Profound’s total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
