Position Summary

The Business Intelligence team supports the firm across a broad spectrum of activities in support of new business and client relationship-building and strategic management decision making. The Business Intelligence team’s functions include detailed client and market intelligence; strategic analysis of industry, market and geopolitical trends; predictive analytics to identify new business opportunities; and competitive intelligence.

The Senior Coordinator, Business Intelligence supports the Business Intelligence team through research, data analysis, and competitive intelligence. This role helps collect, organize, and analyze internal and external information to support business development opportunities, client and prospect research, competitive tracking, and broader strategic initiatives. The Senior Coordinator also assists with recurring and ad hoc data pulls and reporting needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct research on companies, industries, markets, and competitors to support business development initiatives and strategic planning.

  • Assist in preparing research summaries, target reports, and related materials on clients, prospects, competitors, industries, and market developments for Business Development professionals and attorneys.

  • Perform research in internal firm systems, including CRM and matter databases, to identify relevant relationships, prior matters, client connections, and other information useful for business development and strategic analysis.

  • Support competitive intelligence efforts by gathering and organizing information from external sources, including law firm websites, legal directories, market databases, and other business, financial, and legal research platforms.

  • Monitor relevant news, business, legal, and market developments affecting clients, prospects, competitors, and key sectors, and help synthesize findings for internal stakeholders.

  • Assist with recurring and ad hoc data pulls, data validation, and data organization for Business Intelligence reporting needs, including support for dashboards.

  • Prepare spreadsheets, charts, tables, and other supporting materials to assist in the analysis and presentation of information to Business Development leadership and other firm stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Business Development and other business services teams, including Knowledge Management and Finance, to gather and organize information from multiple sources.

  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of research processes, reporting workflows, and internal best practices for data collection and analysis.

  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned by the Senior Manager

Qualifications/Position Requirements

  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Excel (including data organization, charts, and pivot tables)

  • Superb attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time-management skills, with a proactive approach to anticipating obstacles

  • Passion for client services, teaching best practices, and sharing the value of proper research methods and marketing technology

  • Keen interest in researching and improving data and leveraging technology to increase efficiencies and improve internal processes

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3-4 years of experience working in a professional services environment preferred

Compensation

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $85,000 - $90,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
