Job Summary

The Legal Coordinator provides document and data management support for the Legal Department. The Coordinator provides additional support to members of the Legal Department as requested.


 

Essential Job Functions  

  • Document Management: Recordkeeping, including maintaining contracts, litigation files, corporate documents and/or other documents as assigned. Facilitates document collection, production, and retention. Reviews and edits formatting and grammar in legal documents. Utilizes knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams as well as Adobe Acrobat to execute daily work. 
  • Data Management and Administration:  Assists in the creation of reports for the department. Creates and maintain databases and intranet sites for the department. Performs special projects as needed. Identifies trends and works with other departments to update policies and procedures as needed. Works on intake tasks with respect to new matters and business requests. Assists with scheduling meetings as needed. 

Distinction: Business Support 

  • Contract Execution Support: Administers the execution of all contracts, including but not limited to approvals and signatures, entering contract data into contract management system, maintaining data integrity of the contracts database, various reporting, and other back-end office functions. Apply knowledge of legal concepts and processes to provide efficient and effective coordination of legal projects and contracts as well as other administrative tasks as assigned. 
  • Maintenance and Administration: Maintain contract files and databases for Bread Financial and provide contract administration. Administration may include obtaining approvals and signatures, record initiation, maintenance, audit, tracking of provisions and compliance with records retention and other company policies and procedures.   
  • Reporting and Tracking: Track and monitor status of contracts at any stage of the contract lifecycle. Preparation of standard and ad hoc reports and summaries related to contracts. Provide project updates, meeting summaries, and progress reports as requested by supervisor or Legal Counsel. Respond to general inquiries from internal business partners regarding contract review process and status. Edit and provide necessary word processing support for the Business Support team, including contracts, letters, and other agreements as directed by Legal Counsel  
  • Administrative Support: Administrative functions to include, but not limited to, document retrieval, mass mailing preparation, copying, printing, filing, data entry. Works independently and is effective in deadline intensive environment, managing multiple responsibilities while effectively focusing on priority issues with superb attention to detail and accuracy. Review and research contracts to identify relevant contract terms to enter into contract management system Understand legal documents and issues. Operate with strict confidentiality while demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to gain trust, achieve business objectives, and work directly with a broad group of associates within and external to the company. Takes initiative, anticipates needs, is innovative and utilizes effective problem-solving skills to address and deal with conflict. Analyze and estimate work efforts to ensure deliverables are met. 

Distinction: Corporate Governance 

  • Corporate housekeeping and maintenance of governance and regulatory documentation, including corporate records, Bank Board material and minutes. Uploading of documents to electronic board book (Diligent). Board meeting logistics assistance including scheduling meetings, sending invitations, securing meeting spaces, and other tasks as required. Support paralegals and attorneys in the gathering and compilation of various bank, risk, audit, and regulatory requests. Creation and administration of reporting related to corporate governance and bank regulatory functions. Maintenance of Corporate Governance and Bank Regulatory team intranet sites. 

Distinction: Litigation 

  • Oversees the Intake process by entering new cases in the matter management system. Read and understand legal complaints, identify accounts at issue, data entry of relevant information and obtain necessary documentation to assist in the review of cases. Work with outside counsel to obtain necessary case information. Completes various reporting tasks including the matter closing report, buyback report, and other miscellaneous reports. Supports the paralegals in obtaining information relevant to completing outside counsel information requests. Works with department administrative assistant in sorting and processing mail relevant to litigation. At times will be asked to coordinate and lead team meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience  in the legal field or related area of study or completion of a Bread Financial apprentice program.
  • One or more years experience with record keeping and data administration for Legal Department or Law Firm  

  

Preferred Experience:  

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in legal field or related area of study
  • Two or more years of record keeping and data administration for Legal Department or Law Firm

Typical Pay Range:

$23.90 - $38.20

Full Pay Range for position:

California: $27.50 - $47.80 Colorado: $23.90 - $42.05 New York: $26.30 - $47.80 Washington: $26.30 - $43.95 Maryland: $26.30 - $42.05 Washington DC: $27.50 - $43.95 Illinois: $23.90 - $42.05 New Jersey: $27.50 - $43.95 Vermont: $23.90 - $38.20 Ohio: $23.90 - $38.20 Maine: $23.90 - $38.20 Connecticut: $26.30 - $42.05 Virginia: $23.90 - $38.20

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.


You must be work authorized in the United States on a full time basis without the need for any sponsorship now or in the future from any employer or organization. The Company cannot offer employment to F-1 (student) visa holders.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26.  New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period).  Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates, both full time and part time, can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Full-time hourly associates receive a bi-annual grant of Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in each January and July based on their service date and scheduled hours, whereas newly hired full time hourly associates in their first year of employment receive a prorated PTO grant on their 61st day of employment based on the month of hire and scheduled hours. Associates will receive a payout of any unused PTO, up to 40 hours, paid out in the next calendar year (except associates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana and Nebraska who are paid for all unused PTO). Additionally, hourly associates (except those in California) generally receive 72 hours of Paid Sick Leave Plus (“PSL+”) per calendar year, with a pro-rated grant in the associate’s first year of employment to the extent allowed by applicable law. If additional PSL+ is required in a particular jurisdiction, the company with comply with applicable law. Unused PSL+ does not carry over from one calendar year to the next unless required by applicable law. Instead of PSL+, hourly associates in California receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December.
