Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive credit reviews including borrower credit reports, background checks, and public record searches such as liens, judgments, bankruptcies, lawsuits, corporate filings, and UCC records.
  • Analyze borrower financial performance through detailed review of bank statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, tax returns, and accounts receivable reports.
  • Conduct cash flow analysis to evaluate repayment capacity and determine overall borrower creditworthiness.
  • Recommend loan approvals, credit limits, and deal structures based on financial analysis and internal credit policies.
  • Assist in determining loan pricing and repayment structures, including weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payment schedules.
  • Prepare thorough credit memoranda summarizing borrower financial profiles, risk considerations, and underwriting recommendations.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and risk leadership to review complex transactions and ensure alignment with credit guidelines.
  • Monitor borrower industries and market trends to identify emerging risks and lending opportunities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of credit policies, risk frameworks, and lending products.
  • Help maintain a disciplined underwriting process that balances portfolio growth with strong risk management.

Qualifications

  • Strong financial analysis and credit evaluation skills with the ability to assess borrower risk and repayment capacity.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret financial statements and identify key risk factors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in preparing credit memos and presenting recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability when evaluating complex credit scenarios.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with underwriting, risk, and leadership teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or similar systems is preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or commercial lending.
  • Experience evaluating small business financing, short-duration loans, or alternative lending products is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in fintech, specialty finance, or non-bank lending environments is a plus.
