WE HAVE CREATED A WORLD WHERE ART AND SCIENCE ARE BEST FRIENDS

Known is what happens when a data science firm and a creative agency stop arguing and start collaborating. We were built from scratch with PhD data scientists and award-winning creatives working on the same briefs, from day one. That structure earned us an Ad Age #3 A-List ranking, back-to-back Data & Insights Agency of the Year wins, plus Emmys, Cannes Lions, Clios, and Effies across clients in finance, tech, entertainment, consumer goods, and real estate. We're distributed across the U.S. and unapologetically ambitious.

If you're tired of choosing between doing smart work and doing creative work, you'll fit right in here.

BUT ENOUGH ABOUT US, LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU

About the role:

Known is seeking Senior Data Analysts to work in our Skeptic and Data Consulting practices. This highly technical position involves advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistics. This is a hybrid role based in New York City.

The Data Consulting practice solves various challenging marketing and business problems for our clients, who span some of the world’s most famous brands across media, tech, entertainment, consumer products, and more.  Known’s Skeptic team builds the tools that power Known’s media buying practice and elevate our clients' media campaigns. Our work ranges from predictive modeling/optimization to infrastructure development, and Skeptic’s data scientists and engineers are challenged daily to push the limits of advanced advertising.

Senior Data Analysts work closely with PhD-level data scientists, engineers, and other analysts, quickly learning the skills needed to deliver exploratory analyses, on-the-fly reports, machine learning results, data quality strategies, or production code.

Being a Senior Data Analyst at Known is a unique opportunity to take on increasing levels of responsibility, with our analysts often becoming expert data scientists, engineers, or team leaders.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Build and maintain tools

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain tools for marketing applications, including our existing suite, and help teams adopt them
  • Improve analytics code, dashboards, and reporting

Analyze and automate

  • Be part of MOAs: create and validate analyses in SQL, Python, and proprietary tools, and bring your own
  • Automate recurring marketing analyses for media buying teams
  • Improve data and code quality and troubleshoot data issues

Work with clients and the team

  • Plan projects and participate in research meetings with teammates
  • Present results to colleagues and clients, and answer their questions promptly and thoughtfully
  • Contribute to deliverables (documents, code, slides) and to Known’s strategy
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU HAVE

What you need

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university. STEM degrees are preferred
  • At least two years of experience in analytics, advertising, ad tech, or media
  • Regular experience using Python (or similar) and SQL
  • Based in the New York City area (this is a hybrid role)
  • A willingness to learn foundational knowledge and skills rapidly
  • Abundant intellectual curiosity and integrity
  • A desire to work on challenging problems that require flexibility in approach - everything from on-the-fly analytics to statistics, big data, machine learning, and mathematical algorithms (but not alone!).

How you work

  • Superb communication and presentation skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • You translate business challenges into quantitative problems and solve them with whatever method fits, which may not be machine learning
  • You understand what LLMs and generative AI can and cannot do, including the ethical considerations
  • You own projects and take them to completion
  • You hold your work and others’ to a high standard for quality and accuracy

Nice to have

  • Experience in advertising or advertising technology
  • Experience working on a tech team, including cloud technologies and version control
  • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • Experience with predictive analytics or machine learning

  • Unlimited paid time off
  • 401k with company matching and no vesting period
