We support 100% remote work for this role!

We’d love to hear from you if:

Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box. So if you think you qualify, but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch.

As Senior Director, Commerce, you will lead Commerce strategy across a book of major clients while also helping define and elevate the excellence of Tinuiti’s broader Commerce practice. You will translate business ambition into integrated commerce growth plans that drive measurable outcomes across marketplaces, retail media, and the broader commerce ecosystem. In addition to leading senior client strategy, you will raise the bar on commerce innovation, output quality, hiring, capability building, and best practices across the department. This role is best suited for a senior commerce leader who combines deep subject matter expertise with strong commercial judgment, executive client presence, and the ability to scale impact through people, standards, and functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Client-Centric:

  • Design and socialize multi-year commerce growth strategies aligned to client objectives, investment priorities, and market realities.

  • Build and sustain trusted relationships across senior stakeholder systems, including executive-level client contacts, while navigating complex commerce platform, retail, and organizational dynamics.

  • Own a portfolio of commerce client relationships, ensuring strategies are tied to measurable business outcomes such as growth, retention, profitability, and market share.

  • Lead high-stakes client meetings and executive presentations, translating complex commerce issues into clear trade-offs, recommendations, and action plans.

  • Serve as a key leader in marquee new business efforts, shaping differentiated solutioning, executive storytelling, and commerce growth narratives.

  • Set the bar for commerce strategy quality across the portfolio, ensuring client plans, recommendations, and executive narratives are commercially sharp, integrated, and consistently decision-oriented.

Product-Led:

  • Drive deep adoption of Tinuiti’s product suite, third-party technology, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency, insight quality, and client outcomes.

  • Drive innovation across the Commerce practice by identifying better ways to use Tinuiti product capabilities, third-party technology, and AI-enabled workflows to improve team efficiency, strategic quality, and client outcomes.

  • Partner closely with Innovation & Growth and adjacent leaders to identify what is next for the commerce practice, codify emerging best practices, and translate innovation into scalable team adoption.

  • Help shape how the Commerce department uses tools, workflows, and product capabilities - not just within client accounts, but as a broader competitive advantage for the practice.

  • Champion product-led innovation in the commerce practice by translating team needs, platform shifts, and client challenges into structured feedback and better use of internal and external tools.

Data & Measurement Data-Driven:

  • Oversee the use of commerce performance data, platform signals, and broader business metrics to extract actionable insights and develop strategic recommendations for clients.

  • Ensure commerce strategies are tied to clear KPIs, rigorous measurement, and ongoing optimization against client goals and business outcomes.

  • Guide teams in turning data into compelling narratives that explain what is happening, why it matters, and what the client should do next.

  • Encourage thoughtful experimentation, testing, and analytical rigor so commerce decisions are informed by evidence rather than platform habit alone.

  • Raise the overall analytical quality of the department by reinforcing high standards for measurement, interpretation, and strategic recommendation-making across teams.

Channel Specific Expertise & The Tinuiti Way:

  • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive commerce strategies, leveraging deep expertise in commerce platforms, marketplace dynamics, and full-funnel commerce growth.

  • Act as a thought leader in the commerce space, contributing strategic POVs internally and externally on emerging trends, best practices, and growth opportunities.

  • Create stronger cross-functional collaboration between commerce specialists, client teams, and adjacent channel experts so account strategies are integrated, efficient, and commercially useful.

  • Raise the quality bar for commerce strategy, communication, operating discipline, and thought leadership across the department - not just within your own accounts.

  • Help define and socialize best practices for how commerce teams work across platforms, categories, and client types, ensuring stronger consistency and easier scaling of excellence.

  • Act as a visible thought leader for the Commerce practice, contributing internal POVs, external thought leadership, and practical guidance on where the market is going next.

Owner Mindset:

  • Own strategic plans to drive growth, retention, profitability, and portfolio health across assigned commerce clients.

  • Identify and diagnose opportunities for improvement across the commerce ecosystem and guide strategic changes that increase client value and agency impact.

  • Take accountability for the health and evolution of the Commerce function by improving standards, reducing waste, increasing consistency, and ensuring the department is positioned for future growth.

  • Drive accountability across the team by improving operating rigor, removing inefficiencies, and reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Proactively identify where the department needs stronger processes, better playbooks, sharper innovation loops, or clearer quality controls - and drive those improvements forward.

  • Proactively identify cross-sell and growth opportunities across the client portfolio and actively lean into new business efforts that expand Tinuiti’s commerce footprint.

  • Lead through ambiguity and market change with a growth mindset, strong prioritization, and a bias toward action.

People Leader:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing commerce organization, including managers, senior specialists, and rising leaders, while setting a high bar for strategic thinking, execution quality, and leadership behavior.

  • Set clear expectations for performance, quality, and values, and hold leaders accountable for both client outcomes and people development.

  • Provide strategic coaching and developmental feedback that strengthens team capability, leadership readiness, and commerce subject matter depth.

  • Play a meaningful role in hiring and org design for the Commerce department, helping identify the talent, structure, and capability investments needed for future growth.

  • Build durable bench strength by coaching leaders, strengthening succession readiness, and reinforcing clear standards for output quality and client impact.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the department - not just within your direct team.

  • Influence broader talent strategy and help build durable leadership bench strength across the commerce practice.

Professional & Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in commerce, retail media, marketplace strategy, ecommerce, or related growth-focused marketing roles.

  • Proven experience leading major client relationships and commerce strategies in fast-moving, platform-driven environments.

  • Demonstrated success managing and developing multi-level teams, including more senior specialists or managers.

  • Deep expertise in commerce platforms and marketplace dynamics, with the ability to connect strategy, execution, and business outcomes.

  • Strong command of commerce-related data, KPI frameworks, and growth measurement.

  • Strong understanding of product, technology, and AI capabilities as tools to improve efficiency, strategy, and client impact.

  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders through clarity, confidence, and commercial acumen.

  • Ability to navigate complexity across clients, partner relationships, and internal initiatives while maintaining strategic focus and team alignment.
