WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US 

The Senior Director/Director of Engineering is a member of the senior leadership team, responsible for guiding the technical vision, engineering strategy, and execution across the organization. This role leads large, distributed engineering teams across the Risk and Performance domains and drives innovation while ensuring the delivery of secure, high-quality, and customer-centric software solutions.

As a strategic and operational leader, the Senior Director/Director partners closely with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to align engineering efforts with company goals. The role requires a strong emphasis on technical excellence, organizational leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to support the company's growth and transformation.

The Senior Director/Director of Engineering owns multiple product areas, with a span of responsibility across the Risk and Performance domains. The role is responsible for outcomes, including dependency management across the value chain, and promotes collaboration with peers and stakeholders within Application.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

  • Provide strategic leadership as a leader of leaders and their engineering teams—setting clear direction, promoting collaboration and growth, and ensuring alignment with SimCorp's vision and objectives
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence—creating an engaging environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and the delivery of premium-quality software
  • Align engineering priorities with product strategy, ensuring focus on business-critical initiatives while enabling continuous improvement and scalability across teams
  • Collaborate with your engineering peers and optimize systems for effective strategy execution
  • Partner with the architecture team to maintain clear technical direction and shape long-term engineering strategies that support scalability and innovation
  • Build the right capabilities within teams to meet current and future business needs, with overall responsibility for the health and evolution of multiple products within Risk and Performance
  • Enable cross-team and cross-product-area planning and execution across your Risk and Performance area, and manage conflicting priorities and stakeholder expectations
  • Communicate, execute, and follow up on executive strategy across your organization
  • Stay on top of potential customer incidents and escalations, seeing them through to resolution

This role reports to the AVP of Engineering.

WHAT WE VALUE
  • Experience and knowledge in the field of Investment Management Risk and Performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, creating a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Deep understanding of engineering principles, technologies, and methodologies relevant to the FinTech industry
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) in the SDLC
  • Initiative, a client-focused approach, and a clear execution drive, with the capacity to handle conflicting priorities and manage stakeholder expectations
  • You enjoy sparring with your peers in Engineering, Product Management, and Architecture across the Product Division to find the most effective solutions for the product areas and for SimCorp
  • Effective problem-solving and collaboration skills to overcome obstacles and implement change in a large organization
  • You are pragmatic and able to handle change, fostering a culture of collaboration and trust
  • Experience leading leaders of cross-functional teams within a medium- to large-sized product area or enterprise solutions.
