Location: New York, NY

Reports To: Head of Marketing Operations and Transformation

Role Overview

GEICO is building a next-generation marketing organization—one that is faster, smarter, and designed for continuous growth. At the center of this evolution is a newly built Marketing Strategy function.

The Senior Director, Marketing Strategy & Intelligence will serve as key advisor to the CMO and thought partner to the executive team responsible for shaping how GEICO understands its audiences, defines its strategy, and translates insight into action.

This role is not just about delivering strategy it is about building the discipline of marketing strategy for the future. You will define how strategy is developed, how insights are operationalized, and how narrative drives decision-making across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is a T-shaped strategist equally strong in analytics, brand, customer understanding, and storytelling who can operate at both altitude and in the details. This individual must be a leader and a doer as this superpower team gets established.

What You’ll Do:

Define the Future of Marketing Strategy (Core to the Role)

  • Build and lead GEICO’s modern marketing strategy function, establishing new standards for how strategy is developed, communicated, and activated.

  • Define the frameworks, processes, and outputs that connect audience insight → strategy → execution → measurement.

  • Lead a team of 3-5 strategy and insights professionals.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CMO and leadership team on the most critical marketing and growth decisions.

  • Elevate strategy from a set of outputs to a core organizational capability and competitive advantage.

Marketing Strategy & Planning (Annual + 3 Year horizon)

  • Lead the development of GEICO’s annual and 3-year marketing strategy, aligning priorities to enterprise growth and long-term value creation.

  • Define the critical strategic choices—where to play and how to win—across audiences, channels, and capabilities.

  • Translate long-term strategy into clear annual plans, investment priorities, and cross-functional roadmaps.

  • Frame and solve the most important, ambiguous growth challenges, using structured thinking and data-driven insight to inform direction.

  • Deliver clear, decisive recommendations to executive leadership, shaping both long-term strategy and near-term action.

  • Act as the integrator across marketing, product, finance, and operations to align on priorities, trade-offs, and resource allocation.

  • Establish a planning system that connects strategy → execution → performance, enabling continuous optimization and course correction.

Narrative, Storytelling & Executive Communication

  • Own the strategic narrative for marketing—how priorities, performance, and transformation are communicated internally and externally.

  • Translate complex strategies and analyses into clear, compelling stories that drive alignment and action at the executive level.

  • Shape key forums including quarterly business reviews, transformation updates, and board-level materials.

  • Ensure consistency and clarity in how GEICO tells its marketing and growth story across the enterprise.

Audience & Consumer Insights

  • Own the development and evolution of GEICO’s audience and segmentation strategy, ensuring it reflects behavior, value, and future opportunity.

  • Translate complex data, research, and signals into clear, actionable audience strategies that shape go-to-market decisions.

  • Ensure customer understanding is consistently embedded across marketing, product, and experience design.

  • Identify emerging consumer, cultural, and competitive shifts—and translate them into strategic opportunities for the business.

Agentic Strategy & AI-Driven Decisioning

  • Define how GEICO evolves from static planning to agentic strategy— where marketing decisions are dynamically informed by data, models, and real-time signals.

  • Partner with analytics and data teams to integrate AI-driven insights into strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Design strategies that are adaptive by design—built to test, learn, and continuously improve in-market.

  • Translate complex model outputs into clear business implications and actions for leadership.

  • Identify opportunities to embed AI into segmentation, messaging, media, and growth strategy to unlock speed and precision.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10–15+ years in marketing strategy, consulting, or a related field, with experience operating at senior leadership levels.

  • Proven ability to move between high-level strategy and detailed execution.

  • Deep experience in customer insight, segmentation, and growth strategy, paired with strong brand and marketing intuition.

  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills—able to influence at the CMO/CEO level.

  • Experience operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and leading through transformation.

  • Strong understanding of data, analytics, and emerging AI capabilities and how they apply to marketing strategy.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive alignment across complex organizations.
