THE OVERVIEW

CR is an independent nonprofit with a community of more than 5 million members who share our commitment to fight for a fair and just marketplace. Membership dues are the biggest driver of the revenue that allow us to empower and inform consumers, incentivize corporations to act responsibly, and help policymakers prioritize the rights and interests of consumers in order to shape a truly consumer-driven marketplace.

The Senior Director, Membership Marketing oversees and executes marketing strategies that attract, engage and retain members for the organization with a focus on maximizing membership contributions through both revenue optimization and expense management.  Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Director will be a key partner across the organization, managing acquisition teams that drive overall long term value for CR, including Paid Media, Membership Retention & Engagement, Shopping Marketing, Newsletter & Email Marketing, and Innovation Marketing. You’ll also oversee the team responsible for audience selection from CR's database for marketing campaigns and other initiatives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

This critical position helps ensure that CR continues to build on its rich legacy in order to remain an enduring institution.

On a daily basis, you will:

  • Oversee the execution of membership marketing team's strategies & programs and manage the marketing budget.
  • Manage and develop staff of 20+ with a focus on creating an innovative, collaborative, performance and data driven culture. 
  • Work closely with other Marketing teams as well as with other departments, as needed, in support of CR’s growth including close partnership with the Product/Experience team as well as with New Ventures.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to maximize the value of external partnerships in reaching new audiences. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and new technologies as well as competitive and consumer insights to inform our strategies for growth.
  • Contribute to strategies to contain costs.
  • Partner with CMO on experiments, partnerships and new acquisition channels in order to attract new members and include existing members’ lifetime value (LTV).


ABOUT YOU

  • You have the educational background. You have earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • You have the experience. 15+ years of  experience in strategic marketing, including performance marketing in digital channels, subscription or membership marketing, and audience development.  
  • You have a proven track record. You’ve led marketing teams, campaigns and programs that drive long term financial value while preserving brand integrity.
  • You have strong financial and business acumen.You are an exceptional communicator and relationship builder. FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation informed by location, as well as the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. It is expected that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of the posted salary range. We have three locations: Yonkers, NY, Washington, DC and Colchester, CT.

Salary ranges:

  • NY/California: $270K-$290K annually
  • DMW/Massachusetts: $235K-$252K annually
  • Colchester, CT and additional approved CR locations:  $225K-$242K annually
