Senior Engineering Manager, Parsec

The opportunity
Unity is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join Parsec, a team focused on pushing the boundaries of what's possible in remote collaboration, hybrid work, and enterprise management.

Parsec offers ultra-low latency, high-performance remote access technology that enables creative professionals to work from anywhere, businesses to support hybrid work, and individuals to collaborate in real-time. Its platform delivers near-native performance for creatives, game developers, and enterprise users needing responsive, high-fidelity computing.

You will manage, mentor, and provide technical leadership to engineers as they design, build, and deploy the products and services that power Parsec. This will include native applications, web applications, cloud services, security, infrastructure, and quality assurance. You’ll play a key role in guiding technical solutions, fostering a positive work environment, setting clear expectations, delegating effectively, and promoting individual professional development of the team.

What you'll be doing

• Lead engineers in defining and communicating the technical vision, architecture, and design for all of Parsec’s applications and services.
• Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate business goals into clear engineering roadmap and technical deliverables.
• Oversee delivery to ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements (i.e. quality, performance, scalability, security).
• Establish and champion best practices around key processes, internal tooling, and workflows.
• Proactively manage risk and costs across our products and infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers and help foster collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and the completion of assigned projects and goals.
• Drive clear, transparent, and timely communication across all levels; within engineering, cross-functional colleagues, and executive stakeholders.
• Operate a distributed, remote team.

What we're looking for

• Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary cloud and native application development teams, in parallel.
• Experience overseeing the software development lifecycle for cloud and native applications from initial architecture through deployment, monitoring, iteration, cost reduction, and incident response.
• Hands-on and leadership experience with native platforms (i.e. Windows, Mac, iOS, Android)
• Designed and managed large scale, highly-available web apps and APIs (REST, WebSockets) built on cloud infrastructure and serverless patterns.
• Experience running a high availability production service or product with on call shifts and continuous release cycles.
• Solid development experience with Golang, JavaScript (TypeScript), and MySQL. Familiarity with C and C++.
• Experience using and maintaining platforms for observability (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Experience managing engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective.

You might also have

• Experience working with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Experience with networking technologies (STUN servers, NAT traversal).
• Working knowledge of the Parsec app and remote access administration dashboards.
