Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst – Long Range & Capital Planning supports the health system's long range financial planning and capital planning functions within central finance. This role provides financial modeling, forecasting, reporting and other support to operations and strategy in support of the organization’s long range financial plan and capital planning functions. The analyst works cross-functionally with service line leaders, shared services, treasury, and executive leadership to develop multi-year financial plans and support the capital planning workflow. This role maintains an environment of internal controls and data integrity across the planning process and identifies and proposes solutions to inefficiencies and opportunities for automation and/or improved use of software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the annual long range financial planning (LRFP) cycle, including gathering assumptions from operational leaders and synthesizing into a consolidated system-wide forecast

  • Provide modeling, reporting and review of volume trends, payor mix shifts, labor and supply cost assumptions, and strategic growth initiatives

  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the financial impact of strategic alternatives, regulatory changes, reimbursement shifts, and macroeconomic factors

  • Support rating agency presentations and Board reporting with relevant financial projections and narrative with a strong understanding of balance sheets and cash flow statements

  • Support the annual and multi-year capital planning process, including intake, prioritization scoring, and consolidation of capital requests across the system

  • Review and analyze project-level financial models for major capital investments, including ROI analysis, NPV/IRR calculations, payback period, and impact on system debt capacity

  • Function as system administrator for capital planning tool and providing reporting and project forecasting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field

  • 5+ years of progressive financial analysis or accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a healthcare or hospital system environment preferred

  • Advanced Excel modeling skills; proficiency with financial planning and ERP systems (e.g., Axiom/Strata, Workday)

  • Strong understanding of healthcare finance concepts including payor mix, DRG reimbursement, net patient service revenue, and capital structure

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining long range financial models or multi-year forecasts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex financial analysis into executive-ready presentations

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or Health Administration (MHA/MHSA) preferred

  • CPA, CFA, or HFMA (FHFMA/CHFP) certification preferred

  • Proficiency with capital project management processes and tools preferred

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred

  • Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting minimum requirements

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $94,889.60 - $136,572.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
