Overview


The Senior Manager, Business Development position is a unique opportunity to shape and grow corporate partnerships that generate meaningful support for the ASPCA's mission, connecting leading companies with opportunities to make a difference for animals nationwide. The Corporate Partnerships (CP) team, within Advancement, oversees the ASPCA’s relationships with a range of companies who are committed to supporting animal welfare through product sales, marketing activities, employee giving campaigns and other engagement opportunities.

The ASPCA’s Corporate Partnerships team works with mission-driven companies to advance animal welfare through cause marketing, workplace giving, sponsorships, and other strategic collaborations. As part of the Advancement department, the team develops innovative partnerships that generate revenue, expand awareness, and create meaningful opportunities for companies and their employees to support the ASPCA’s mission.


What You’ll Do


The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing strategic partnerships with for-profit companies that support the organization's mission through flat donations, cause marketing campaigns, private workplace giving opportunities, and other revenue-generating partnerships.


This role will support the Director, Business Development in executing the department's business development strategy by identifying new corporate prospects, building relationships with prospective partners, developing customized partnership proposals, and managing select partner relationships. The Senior Manager will play a key role in expanding the Corporate Partnerships team's capacity to source, pitch, and secure new business opportunities while also supporting the growth and implementation of Private Workplace Giving (PWG) initiatives.


The Senior Manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders across Marketing Communications, Finance, Legal, Programs, and Membership to ensure partnership opportunities are strategically aligned, effectively activated, and deliver value for both the ASPCA and its partners.


Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, strong project management abilities, creativity, attention to detail, and knowledge of corporate partnership structures are critical to success in this role.


  • Senior Manager, Business Development reports directly to the Director, Business Development and has no direct reports.

Where and When You’ll Work


This is a hybrid position and will require occasional days commuting to the 8th Avenue ASPCA location in New York City. A remote option for candidates outside of New York City is negotiable for qualified candidates already employed with the ASPCA who are currently working outside of New York City.

Compensation

 

The target hiring range is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee’s primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor.  You can view which zone applies to you based on your location (aspca.app.box.com/v/aspcazonetable). Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for this role is 


  • Zone 1: $76,000 - $80,000 annually
  • Zone 2: $84,000 - $89,000 annually
  • Zone 3 (including New York City): $93,000 - $98,000 annually

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Supports the Director, Business Development in executing the department's new business strategy and meeting/exceeding annual revenue goals
  • Conducts proactive prospect research and identifies new partnership opportunities across a variety of industries including consumer goods, technology, health, financial services, food, and emerging sectors
  • Develops customized partnership proposals, presentations, pitch materials, and sponsorship concepts for prospective partners
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with prospective corporate partners through outreach, meetings, follow-up, and stewardship activities
  • Maintains an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities through Salesforce, Airtable, and other tracking systems
  • Monitors trends in corporate philanthropy, cause marketing, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility to identify new opportunities
  • Collaborates with the Director, Business Development to evaluate and prioritize high-potential partnership opportunities
  • Represents the ASPCA at networking events, conferences, and industry functions as appropriate
  • Supports negotiations and contract development for new partnerships

Partnership Management

  • Manages select corporate partnerships from inception through activation, reporting, and renewal
  • Serves as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned partners
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to ensure partnership deliverables are executed effectively and on schedule
  • Oversees development of partnership recaps, impact reporting, and stewardship materials
  • Guides partners with creative approvals, content reviews, and campaign implementation
  • Identifies opportunities for partnership growth, renewal, and deeper engagement

Private Workplace Giving

  • Supports Director with the implementation and growth of the ASPCA's Private Workplace Giving strategy
  • Seeks new ways to develop and expand employee engagement opportunities, fundraising campaigns, and turnkey activation resources for corporate partners
  • Researches workplace giving trends and peer nonprofit programs to identify opportunities for innovation and growth
  • Leads the development of employer-facing resources, toolkits, presentations, and marketing materials
  • Tracks program participation, engagement, and revenue metrics to inform future strategy
  • Identifies opportunities to convert workplace giving relationships into broader corporate partnership opportunities

Business Development Operations

  • Maintains accurate records and opportunity tracking within Salesforce, Box, Airtable, and other internal systems
  • Assists with revenue forecasting, pipeline reporting, and departmental planning
  • Owns preparation of internal updates, leadership presentations, and strategic planning materials
  • Collaborates with colleagues across Advancement to identify cross-functional opportunities for partnership growth
  • Responds to inbound corporate inquiries and partnership requests as assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5 or more years of experience in corporate partnerships, business development, account management, fundraising, marketing, or related field required
  • Experience cultivating and managing external relationships required
  • Experience developing partnership proposals and presentations required
  • Experience managing projects required
  • Experience tracking data and metrics highly preferred
  • Experience developing materials or presentations materials for an external audience, required
  • Nonprofit work experience preferred
