Job Description

As the Senior Manager, Consumer Insights, you will guide and manage the voice of the consumer (VOC) for the Water Business Unit. You’ll develop consumer insight strategy across product development, brand positioning, and customer experience—turning consumer and market data into clear, compelling stories that help shape meaningful business decisions.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with teams across Brand, Product, Innovation, Design, and Strategy, and serve as a key insights partner to the Water BU leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. You will manage one direct report and work with internal and external partners to deliver high-impact research and analytics that inform innovation and fuel business growth.

POSITION LOCATION:This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of Deerfield, IL. Effective fall 2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions. The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness and recreation.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the development and execution of the consumer insights agenda for FBIN’s Water Business Unit, ensuring alignment with innovation, brand, and CX strategies.
  • Bring the voice of the consumer into key business decisions—connecting insights to action across product development, brand positioning, and customer experience.
  • Translate complex research and data into inclusive, accessible, and inspiring narratives that guide strategy and support business growth.
  • Manage a portfolio of consumer research projects, balancing in-depth studies with agile initiatives, using both traditional and emerging methodologies.
  • Partner closely with teams in Product, Brand, Strategy, Design, and Innovation to embed consumer insights across every stage of development.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Marketing Analytics & Insights to deliver integrated category reviews that synthesize multiple data streams (primary, secondary, syndicated).
  • Guide and manage both qualitative and quantitative research, and apply advanced analytics to uncover needs, motivations, behaviors, and whitespace opportunities.
  • Pilot and scale AI-driven and synthetic data tools that improve insight speed and depth while maintaining data integrity.
  • Oversee external research partners to ensure best-in-class methodologies and execution.
  • Foster a culture of consumer-centricity across the business by building shared understanding and influencing through thoughtful insight storytelling.
  • Provide coaching and professional development to one direct report, building capability in research, business acumen, and communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Market Research, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or brand strategy in consumer products, durables, or design-led industries.
  • Demonstrated experience using insights to shape product innovation, brand strategy, and customer experience (CX); experience with CX research and journey mapping.
  • Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficiency with DIY research platforms (e.g., Suzy, Zappi, Qualtrics).
  • Skilled in translating complex data into clear, actionable stories for diverse audiences.
  • Effective collaborator with cross-functional teams, including Brand, Product, Innovation, and Design.
  • Experience managing and developing direct reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or MA/MS in Marketing, Market Research, Psychology, Sociology, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled research and advanced analytics methods.
  • Experience applying synthetic data tools or piloting new research technologies.

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $120,000 USD - $175,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
