About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

At DESRI, our culture is grounded in rigorous analytics and thoughtful risk-taking, with a strong emphasis on creativity, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement. We operate with lean teams that prioritize efficiency and minimize unnecessary bureaucracy, enabling individuals to take ownership and move quickly. We value open, constructive dialogue and believe it leads to better outcomes. Above all, we are driven to go the extra mile and support one another, fostering a collaborative environment built on accountability, integrity, and care.

About the role

DESRI seeks a talented and highly motivated individual to join its team as a Senior Manager or Director, Tax Credit Origination/Finance (title commensurate with experience). This role will focus on building and managing a direct pipeline of corporate tax credit buyers and supporting the execution of transactions across DESRI’s portfolio.

The position is highly relationship-driven, with a primary emphasis on sourcing, developing, and closing relationships with corporate counterparties. The ideal candidate will bring an existing network of contacts and the ability to originate opportunities, working closely with internal teams to support execution.

What you'll do

You’ll be responsible for building and managing a direct book of tax credit buyers, developing relationships with corporate counterparties and advisory firms, and originating new transaction opportunities. You’ll lead opportunities from initial outreach through closing and serve as a primary external-facing representative of DESRI.

You’ll work closely with internal teams across finance, legal, and asset management to support transaction execution, including coordination of diligence and closing processes. While the role requires commercial judgment, you’ll be supported internally on structuring and execution.

You’ll also track market developments and buyer demand, provide insights on pricing and market dynamics, and support DESRI’s broader origination efforts.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required and at least 6-8 years of relevant experience in tax credit origination, tax equity, advisory, or related corporate finance roles
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships and originate transactions
  • Existing network of corporate contacts, particularly within tax advisory firms or corporate tax departments
  • Experience in a commercial, client-facing role with exposure to deal execution
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with renewable energy tax credits is preferred
  • At DESRI, we consider a wide range of factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The expected annual base salary for this position is $225,000 to $300,000 (depending on title and experience).
  • Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
