WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Senior Managing Director, Impact & Partnerships, is a critical leader of Teach For America South Carolina (TFASC). As the leader of the TFASC Regional Impact team, you are responsible for setting the vision and overarching strategy of TFASC’s programmatic offerings, working alongside our internal and external partners to drive the growth of our impact and realize the day when every student in South Carolina has access to an excellent and equitable education.

As the Senior Managing Director, Impact & Partnerships, you will work closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to design and implement our theory of leadership development across the program continuum. You will cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including school district partners, principals, and community-based organizations, to strategically and intentionally integrate TFASC’s programs with the work already happening in our partner communities and to develop a vision and strategy for program growth and evolution. You will lead members of the Regional Impact team to design and execute teacher- and alumni-facing programs aligned to key KPIs, regional strategy, and our 2030 Goal. The SMD, Leadership Development, will report directly to the Executive Director.
 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Partnerships Strategy & Development (40%)

    • Develops regional partnerships strategy across the network (including district, school, university, and recruitment partners)

    • Cultivates and develops relationships with key partners and stakeholders at all levels of the communities with which we work, in support of the growth and scaling of TFASC’s programs

    • Support in building a robust network of leadership development opportunities across various partner types (mission-aligned organizations, school districts, etc.) for the career acceleration of prospects, teachers, and alumni engaged in our programs 

    • Maintains open and frequent communication with school district partners, including 2030 Goal community partners, to position TFASC as an organization committed to working in proximity to communities and to better align TFASC’s programs with district priorities 

  • Regional & Programmatic Strategy (40%)

    • Owns overall impact, vision, direction, and strategy for all prospect, teacher, and alumni-facing programs. 

    • Leads the Regional Impact team in development and execution for all prospect-, teacher-, and alumni-facing programs in alignment with key KPIs, regional priorities, and our developing 2030 Goal.

    • In partnership with the Chief of Staff, sets goals, strategy, and reports for the 2030 Goal. 

    • Shares responsibility as the regional point of contact for South Carolina’s corps program, working closely with MD and Leadership Development to support SC corps members and create opportunities for SC-based enrichment and community learning. 

  • Recruitment (10%) 

    • Support the region’s teacher recruitment goals by attending several in-person career fairs each year. 

    • Participate in all-team recruitment activities as needed throughout the year. 

  • Team Responsibilities (10%)

    • Support and participate in regional events.

    • Attend and participate in team staff meetings, retreats, and other all-team engagements. 

    • Drive own professional development (PD) with support from managers and others, including mandatory PD requirements of the region (i.e., Selection training).

    • Engage in community opportunities that have personal meaning/connection.

    • Understand and effectively communicate Teach For America-South Carolina’s programmatic initiatives, goals, and impact externally and internally.

    • Will operate flexibly to lend skills and capacity to meet the needs of emerging projects or priorities as they arise.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Senior Managing Director, Impact & Partnerships, will: 

  • Lead individual and group spaces for the Regional Impact Team, supporting your team to achieve ambitious programmatic results tied to regional strategy and KPIs.

  • Develop big-picture strategy and vision for all TFASC prospects, teacher- and alumni-facing programs; work with your team to translate this vision and strategy into on-the-ground programmatic offerings.

  • Strategize programmatic growth, including identifying and cultivating relationships with potential partners.

  • Serve as a member of TFASC’s Senior Leadership Team, supporting the Executive Director to set strategy and vision for team goals, culture, and evolution. 

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications): 

  • At least 10 years of related work experience

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to execute on multiple work-streams simultaneously

  • Strategic and entrepreneurial thinker 

  • Strong ability to set vision and direction and invest others in that vision

  • Exceptional leadership coaching skills and demonstrated ability to lead others to achieve ambitious outcomes

  • Strong ability to build relationships and tailor approach toward the perspective of others across a variety of stakeholders

  • Creative thinker with a strong learner orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, and a belief that others must lead, through a culturally relevant lens and in a way that empowers and supports staff, corps members, alumni, students, and communities

  • A cultural leader who reflects our core values, commitment to being at an equity-based organization, and the deep belief in our people, our alumni, students, and diverse and wide-ranging community partners

  • Willing to work occasional weekend or evening work hours 

  • Bachelor’s Degree

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost-of-labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. This range may be modified in the future.

Tier A Salary Range: $113,000-$145,700
