Overview

We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to own a product space end-to-end. Not screens against someone else's brief - a space: the problems in it, the sequence you'd tackle them in, the system it's built on, and what ships.

You'll be the fourth product designer on a small, senior design team working alongside a Staff Product Designer, a Product Designer, brand designers, and an embedded UX researcher, reporting to the Director of Product Design. You'll partner directly with PM, engineering, brand, and research leads, and your work will be visible to the executive team on a regular cadence.

This is a role for someone who has already been the most senior designer in the room and wants to do it somewhere the decisions still matter.

What you'll do
  • Own a product space end-to-end. Take an ambiguous, large area spanning multiple features discovery through ship through post-launch iteration and drive it with minimal supervision.

  • Decompose ambiguity into a plan. Turn open-ended problems into a sequenced set of bets the team can actually execute against, and get alignment on the problem before the solution.

  • Set the craft bar. Make the call between "good enough for now" and "needs to be right" and say which one you're choosing and why, out loud, so the team can calibrate.

  • Shape the system, not just the screens. Identify patterns to promote, unify, or deprecate across the product, and partner on shipping new components and retiring old ones. We're building a design system from scratch for our new brand while maintaining one for Credit Genie.

  • Bring the right methodology. Scrappy when speed and learning matter; thorough when quality and stakes are high. In a regulated fintech, knowing which mode a problem calls for is the skill.

  • Influence the roadmap. Help shape what the team takes on. Connect design choices to business strategy and make the case for design-led opportunities rather than waiting to be assigned them.

  • Be a trusted advisor cross-functionally. Build alignment across competing perspectives before they become blockers, so stakeholders are never surprised by a design decision.

  • Tell the story. Write and present crisp narratives that move work forward with peers and with leadership. Make complex work legible.

  • Mentor with intent. Invest deliberately in mid-level designers, real feedback, real growth and model the standards you expect from others.

  • Improve how we work. Crits, kickoffs, retros, onboarding, and hiring. If a ritual has friction, fix it rather than working around it.

  • Build leverage. Create the docs, frameworks, and processes that make other designers measurably faster and better, not just your own output.

What we're looking for
  • 6+ years designing consumer digital products, with clear examples of owning an entire product space, not just features within one.

  • A portfolio that shows craft and reasoning: what the problem was, what you explored and discarded, what you traded off, and what happened after launch.

  • Real design systems experience: building, evolving, or deprecating patterns at scale, and partnering with engineering to actually ship them.

  • Range across visual, interaction, and content design. Native mobile experience matters here; both our products are mobile-first.

  • Evidence you've raised the bar for people around you: mentorship, critique leadership, or process you introduced that others adopted.

  • Strong written communication. A lot of alignment here happens in docs and async, not in meetings.

  • Comfort with genuine ambiguity and a fast pace, and the judgment to know when "fast" is the wrong answer.

  • Fluency with AI in your actual workflow, prototyping, exploration, production plus the discernment to know when not to use it. This team ships this way daily.

Nice to have
  • Fintech, lending, credit, or another regulated consumer domain or evidence you can design well inside hard constraints.

  • Experience designing for a multi-brand portfolio, or standing up a second product alongside an existing one.

  • Motion, prototyping, or front-end literacy deep enough to make handoff conversations shorter.

  • Having worked closely with an embedded UX researcher.
