Mission: A world where anyone who wants a family can try.
We're transforming fertility care from the ground up to make it more accessible. At Gaia, we believe that when it comes to starting a family, financial barriers shouldn't determine who gets to try. We're building the technology infrastructure that makes fertility treatments available to everyone, not just the fortunate few who can afford a $50k bill upfront.
Fertility affects 1 in 6 people, yet only 2% of babies are born via IVF. We're changing that by making fertility care 10x better, with 2x better outcomes, at half the cost.
Our founder experienced this firsthand - going through IVF and having a child because he could afford a $70k bill. Most people can't. We're here to change that reality.
The RoleAs a Senior Product Designer at Gaia, you will take full ownership of one of our core product areas, reporting directly to the Lead Product Designer and working closely with Product, Engineering, and the Member Growth team.
Design at Gaia is a small function, so this is not a role where the problems arrive pre-defined. You will be the designer for your area: framing the problem, talking to members, shaping the solution, and shipping it. Your responsibilities will include:
Owning end-to-end design for your product area, from problem definition through to shipped, measured outcomes
Running research directly with members, prospects, and the internal teams who support them, and turning what you learn into product decisions
Working alongside engineers day to day, making the small judgment calls during build rather than handing off a spec
Designing for a domain that is medically complex, financially high-stakes, and emotionally heavy, where clarity and trust matter more than polish
Contributing to and helping mature our shared design foundations (patterns, components, standards) as the design function grows
Bringing evidence to product decisions, using research, analytics, and your own judgment, and pushing back when the evidence points elsewhere
5+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time as the sole or lead designer on a product surface
A portfolio that shows how you think, not just what you shipped: the problem you were handed, what you changed about it, and what happened after launch
Comfort operating independently, and the judgment to know when to move and when to go find out more
Strong craft in interaction and interface design, with fluency in Figma and modern design systems
Experience working closely with engineers in a fast-shipping environment
Genuine interest in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated, high-stakes domains, and the patience they demand
Familiarity with AI design tools like Claude Design and a willingness to pick up new tools and ways of working
Bonus: experience with complex service or operations tooling, or with products where the user is going through something difficult
Location: Hybrid, 3 days a week in NYC office
We always prefer passion over a perfect skill match. If you're excited about the mission, we want to hear from you.
