Overview

The Security Compete team helps Microsoft Security win. We turn competitive evidence into sharper positioning, field guidance, go-to-market choices and product input across four pillars: Get Ready for AI, Securing AI, Defend with AI and Securing Data. We partner with product and engineering to shape what we build, so market insight becomes a better product, not just better messaging. From leadership setting strategy to sellers in a live deal, we get people the insight they need to decide and win. AI helps us move at market speed, and our experts stay accountable for every call.

Every AI agent needs an identity, and every AI app runs through the network. That puts identity and network access at the center of securing AI, and every major vendor in the space is racing to lead it.

Your insight will shape how Microsoft wins today and what it builds next. You'll lead competitive intelligence across IAM, identity governance (IGA), ITDR, and Security Service Edge (ZTNA, secure web gateway, CASB), helping Microsoft lead across identity, network access, and securing AI.

Responsibilities

Competitive insight across identity, network access, and securing AI

  • Identity and network access vendors are expanding into securing AI, from governing AI agents to controlling how people use AI apps. You’ll track how platform and specialist competitors are evolving across IAM, governance, and SSE, and what that means for Microsoft.

Input into Microsoft Entra’s direction

  • You’ll work with Entra product marketing and engineering to turn that insight into decisions on how Microsoft secures AI agents and AI access: where to invest, what to improve, and how to position. You'll ground recommendations in customer conversations, win/loss analysis, field feedback, and market signals.

Field guidance for competitive evaluations

  • You’ll build the vendor analyses, technical briefs, and battlecards sellers use against identity, governance, and SSE competitors, including in evaluations focused on securing AI. You’ll support priority deals where competitive insight can change the outcome, using AI to keep pace with the market while staying accountable for accuracy.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
  • Master's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Technical depth in identity and/or network access security, such as SSO/MFA and conditional access, identity governance and lifecycle (IGA), privileged access, ITDR, or SSE/SASE technologies including ZTNA, secure web gateway, and CASB. Deep expertise in both identity and network is not required; strength in one with curiosity to go deep in the other is ideal.

  • Familiarity with securing AI, such as agent and non-human identities or AI app access controls, is a plus.

  • Experience in competitive intelligence, technical product marketing, or structured market evaluation, including designing competitive evaluations, use-case tests, or benchmarks and separating reproducible evidence from vendor claims.

  • Strong analytical judgment and synthesis skills, with the ability to combine technical, customer, market, and commercial evidence; communicate uncertainty; and translate complex findings into positioning, product recommendations, sales guidance, and executive narratives.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence across engineering, product, marketing, and sales stakeholders in a matrixed environment, with clear written communication and effective presentations for both technical and executive audiences.

  • Relevant identity, networking, or security certifications can complement practical experience but are not required.
