SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Location: New York City - Lower East Side (Must be based in New York, NY)

Employment Status: Full Time

Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller

Salary range: 85,000 - 95,000

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a top-notch Senior Accountant to join our team. You will play a key part in the financial reporting process, taking a lead role in revenue recognition and technical accounting. This role requires managing complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance, and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes to support the company's growth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the monthly revenue recognition process (ASC 606), partnering cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Execute key monthly close activities, including the preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts to ensure their accuracy.
  • Manage the order to cash process, including customer set-up, project creation, invoicing, and aging.
  • Actively participate in the design, documentation, and implementation of new financial processes and controls to enhance business efficiencies and mitigate financial risk.
  • Serve as a key resource for the Controller, providing expert financial analysis and support for ad hoc projects and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in an advertising agency or related professional services setting but not required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading revenue recognition under ASC 606 guidelines.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Prior experience managing order to cash workstreams.
  • Prior experience operating in financial systems, preferably Netsuite.
  • Excellent professional judgment, problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
