Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Senior Schedule Controls Specialist to join our Construction Management teams in the New York City Metropolitan area. This role offers the opportunity to oversee project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards while contributing to critical infrastructure improvements across the region.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides analysis of schedule data to identify key project issues and develop strategic recommendations
- Supports the development of plans and schedules for proposals and ensures alignment with project objectives
- Leads and mentors junior staff through assignment tasks, providing guidance on schedule controls best practices and professional development
- Assists in tracking corrective action and ensures timely implementation of schedule mitigation strategies
- Coordinates schedule input from all parts of the organization and identifies opportunities for process improvement
- Identifies and analyzes schedule variances and recommends associated corrective action to project leadership
- Updates and produces comprehensive scheduling management reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and ensures that project coding is effectively used for all cornerstone applications
- Responsible for assembling data for schedule updating and maintaining schedule integrity throughout project execution
- Measures progress and reviews invoices of contractors to ensure alignment with schedule performance
- Reviews purchase orders and subcontract schedule status and provides management with input on subcontract performance and risk exposure
- Assumes responsibility for baseline schedule development, maintenance, and change control procedures
- Conducts cost analysis and forecasting as it relates to planning, scheduling, and earned value management
- Conducts performance measurement and analyzes associated schedule trends to forecast project completion dates
- Supports various levels of project reporting and prepares executive summaries for senior management and client stakeholders
- Participates in and leads project planning and scheduling review meetings, facilitating discussions on schedule optimization and risk mitigation
- Assists in procedure development and implementation to enhance scheduling processes and controls across projects
- Manages stakeholder communications regarding schedule performance, changes, and impacts to project timelines and deliverables
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
- Transit and Transportation Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with, the senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
- Expert ability to develop CPM schedule logic for engineering, procurement and construction as well as command of cornerstone scheduling system
- Experienced using drawings and specifications for schedule development
- Familiar with construction contracting and the scheduling implications of contract terms
- Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and has demonstrated ability to incorporate directed changes into schedule baseline. Knowledgeable in earned value methodology
- Able to resource load schedule and perform remedial schedule risk analysis
- Excellent interpersonal skills, staff supervision, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Experience with NYSDOT, or NYCDOT projects
- Software proficiency in Procore, SharePoint, MS Project
