We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer in New York, NY

Job Duties: Architect and develop large-scale back-end software systems. Design, build, and maintain complex RESTful APIs and microservices. Lead engineering teams through complex technical challenges and design decisions. Perform large-scale data processing, caching strategies, and performance optimization. Work closely with design, product, and QA teams to deliver world-class software experiences. Prioritize code quality, customer focus, and rapid iteration. Drive technical excellence and best practices. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Build distributed systems and microservices. Contribute to open-source software projects. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience with Python or Java Data and Application Software Development – 3 years;

2. Experience with Java Application Software Development – 3 years;

3. Experience with Monitoring & Logging Production Workloads and Resolving Production Incidents for Tier 1 Services at Scale – 3 years;

4. Experience with Architecting Infrastructure and Application Solutions with a focus on Scale, Availability, and Performance – 1.5 years;

5. Experience as a Technical lead for project execution for multi-year phased project, including leading a team of engineers – 1.5 years;

6. Experience evolving existing systems to meet new business and product requirements - 2 years;

7. Experience collaborating with product, TPM, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions – 3 years;

8. Experience establishing evolving coding standards and enforcing best practices in SDLC - 3 years.

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: 

Primary Location | Pay Range: 

New York, NY | Salary: $160,805.00-270,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
