Cooley is seeking a Senior Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist to join the Technology Client Services Department.

Position summary:  Cooley Technology embraces a culture of customer service excellence and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist is expected to recognize that the Cooley Technology department is a service organization first and foremost and will be evaluated on this requirement equal in importance to the technical or operational responsibilities outlined later in this document.

The Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist consults and partners with key stakeholders and peers to create, implement and deliver learning strategies that develop technology-related skills in order to enhance the firm’s performance and efficiency. This role will work with peers on the Technology Learning & Adoption team, as well as other groups within the firm, to prioritize the Technology training workload and determine learning strategy. The Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist will assist in assembling learning and development materials into curricula and training programs that serve attorneys and business professionals. This role is also responsible for updating and curating current training materials and researching and finding new sources of ready-made training content. The Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist is responsible for delivering new hire training and other classes, in physical and virtual classroom environments, to all personnel.

A Technology Learning & Adoption Training Specialist has strong consultation skills, is an innovative problem solver, has the ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities, works well with others and can establish credibility at all levels of the organization through communication, knowledge and professional presence. The Specialist is able to identify the most efficient and effective adult learning methods to deliver intended content.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:   

  • Act as a coach in building the skills and abilities of personnel, both inside and outside of the classroom

  • Create educational resources and provide educational support related to an array of technical products, including Windows, Microsoft Office and other Cooley financial and legal applications

  • Design learning solutions including instructor-led courses, videos, and written documentation

  • Transform scripts, storyboards and course plans into activities that promote learner information retention and engagement

  • Maintain existing training resources and look for new ways to utilize them.  Retire resources when they become irrelevant

  • Facilitate technology-related classes for all roles within the firm

  • Accurately diagnose organizational technology performance issues and recommend the most appropriate solutions

  • Consult with Technology management, HR and Administration, as well as individual users to anticipate and understand needs and develop customized learning solutions including facilitated training, coaching, videos, guides, and other resources

  • Build trust and work effectively with all firm users.

  • Participate in complex projects and/or project teams; develop training materials aligned to project plans with key activities, milestones, stakeholders, and rollout strategies; ensure execution and measure effectiveness

  • Manage a workload consisting of on-demand, critical and highly visible projects as well as ongoing operational and administrative tasks

  • Schedule training and maintain records of student registration and course completion using the firm's learning management system. Receive and address training-related requests via the ticket management system

  • Ensure that best practices and procedures are relayed to new and existing personnel with regular follow-up

  • Serve as a conduit for customer feedback to improve systems and procedures

  • Work with other Technology groups to create and maintain documentation for firm IS products

  • Assist Technology groups with QA efforts related to firm technology

  • Keep apprised of all changes to firm technology.  Research and remain educated on industry and company trends

  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications

  • Available to work overtime, as required

  • Available to travel, as needed

  • 4+ years' experience with legal software systems and successful participation and coordinating training projects in a business setting

  • Prior instructional design and curriculum development experience delivering technology-related material

  • Ability to develop learning objectives and competency requirements, reference guides, instructor-led materials and evaluations/assessments

  • Understanding of techniques used to facilitate adult learning

  • Prior in-person and virtual classroom experience teaching technology-related material

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to education, technology or business

  • Prior technical writing or visual design experience

  • Knowledge of video recording/editing software commonly used in learning and development

  • Experience recording voiceover or filming oneself in the context of creating learning materials

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Manual of Style

  • Experience with learning management systems, learning development and virtual classroom tools

  • Experience collaborating with a geographically dispersed team

The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $56.00 - $75.00 ($116,480.00 - $156,000.00 annually).
