The Senior Test Automation Engineer plays a key role in designing, building, and validating high-quality test automation for both internal city applications and public-facing digital services. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic quality leadership, ensuring that releases meet rigorous functional, accessibility, and reliability standards before going live.
Responsibilities will include:
- Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to understand requirements and contribute to early-stage planning and scoping.
- Review project documentation, provide actionable QA feedback, and participate in formal sign-off processes.
- Develop test approaches aligned with organizational standards and driven by analysis of system architecture, design documents, and requirements.
- Contribute to and maintain core QA artifacts, including Test Strategy and Test Plans, detailed test cases, automated test scripts, traceability matrices, test estimates, execution progress reports, and defect analytics.
- Execute manual functional testing when needed, log and triage defects, and drive issues to resolution in collaboration with development and support teams.
- Maintain and evolve test cases and scripts within ALM tools such as Azure DevOps, ensuring full traceability across the SDLC.
- Execute, monitor, and optimize testing processes using SDLC/ALM management systems.
- Design, develop, debug, and execute automated test scripts integrated into CI/CD pipelines; proactively improve test automation coverage and reliability.
- Mentor and support team members in adopting and executing automated testing frameworks.
- Create, manage, and validate test data sets; analyze data results for accuracy and completeness.
- Incorporate accessibility testing standards and practices into all relevant test activities.
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.
