Are you a designer who loves thinking through complex challenges and finding creative solutions?  


Curriculum Associates is looking for a talented and collaborative Senior UX Designer to design clear and intuitive experiences for our Educator platform. Working closely with the Lead UX Designer,  this Senior UX Designer at Curriculum Associates should be a strong analytical and conceptual thinker who can transform ideas into products and demonstrate strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. The right person will work closely with subject matter experts, editors, product managers, engineers, and visual designers to transform educator needs into powerful interactive experiences.  


The impact you’ll have:
  • Participate in concept development with editorial, design, and development teams
  • Use iterative and collaborative design techniques to transform new concepts into products from low-fidelity diagrams, storyboards, sketches, and wireframes to high-fidelity functional prototypes
  • Develop effective documentation for varied audiences, and collaborate closely with Agile development teams to ensure proper implementation of the designs
  • Maintain, update, and improve existing products
  • Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team in the definition, planning, and prioritization of user requirements, and proactively identify and solve potential problems within assigned projects throughout the UX design process 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Proven experience:  
    • 5+ years designing rich interactive experiences,  preferably for educators and students 
    • A track record of achievement in creating innovative and thoughtful products that improve user experience, as demonstrated by a portfolio submission (required to be considered for the position)                        
 
  • Deep understanding of User Experience Design:   
    • A proven understanding of UX/UI process and best practices, including evidence-based user-centered design, user engagement principles, and information architecture 
    • Experience designing AI-enabled interfaces and workflows, such as conversational chatbots, personalized content, and predictive or adaptive systems, as well as familiarity with current AI best practices and ethics 
    • Proficient in UX/UI prototyping tools, preferably Figma, as well as experience with and curiosity for using generative AI tools, such as Figma Make or Claude Code, for rapid ideating, prototyping, and iterating as part of the design process 
    • Strong knowledge of mobile and web interaction patterns
 
    • Strong information design and communication design skills
 
    • Strong ability to capture and document user, stakeholder, and business requirements 
    • Experience in using user and market research to drive creative decisions and design rationale 
    • Curiosity and passion for exploration and consumption of all forms of media, apps and interactive software and the vision to apply them to educational contexts 
    • An understanding of accessible design, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). 
    • Desire to pursue professional growth to stay current with accessible UX and AI design trends 
  • Mastery of soft skills:  
    • Highly detail-oriented with developed organizational skills, including the ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without oversight 
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills  
    • A love for collaboration, with proven ability to work as a confident design representative on a cross-functional product team in a fast-paced environment 
    • Effective at organizing and leading team meetings with demonstrated presentation skills to deliver UX recommendations and design rationales to stakeholders, project teams, and leadership 

 

We’d also love to see: 
  • Experience in K-8 curricula 
  • Previous classroom teaching experience, or experience working closely with educators and students, is highly desirable.  

Travel: 

Travel 2-4 times annually


Location: 

This is a hybrid position, local to either North Billerica, MA or Brooklyn, NY (in-office minimum one day per week). 


Pay Range: 

This role’s range is $69,250 - $118,250. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
