Job Description:

The Senior Vice President, Commerce Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the strategic direction, growth agenda, and operating model for dentsu Commerce across North America.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commerce & Retail, this role serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, partnering across Media, Creative, CXM, Operations, Data, Technology, and Product organizations to define how Commerce capabilities are built, commercialized, and scaled across the enterprise.

The SVP will lead the development of enterprise Commerce strategies, identify new growth opportunities, evaluate strategic partnerships, and help shape the future of dentsu's Commerce offering. This leader will work closely with senior client executives and internal leadership on the firm's most important strategic initiatives, helping clients navigate the rapidly evolving commerce landscape while driving growth for the business.

Key Responsibilities 

Enterprise Commerce Strategy
  • Partner with the Head of Commerce & Retail to define and evolve dentsu's Commerce vision, strategy, and long term roadmap.
  • Lead high priority strategic initiatives that span Media, Creative, Content, Commerce Operations, Data, Technology, and Client Leadership.
  • Identify emerging market trends, client needs, and growth opportunities that shape the evolution of the Commerce practice.
  • Develop strategic recommendations that influence investment priorities, operating models, organizational design, and capability development.
Executive Advisory
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across dentsu and to executive client stakeholders.
  • Lead executive workshops, strategic planning sessions, and transformation engagements.
  • Translate complex market dynamics into clear strategic recommendations and actionable roadmaps.
  • Support executive decision making on enterprise Commerce initiatives.
Innovation & Technology Strategy
  • Evaluate emerging commerce technologies, AI capabilities, and strategic partnerships that strengthen dentsu's Commerce offering.
  • Partner with Product, Data Experience, Data & Technology, and Activation leaders to define capability requirements.
  • Help shape the adoption of agentic AI capabilities across commerce planning, activation, measurement, creative, and operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and client outcomes through technology and automation.
Commercial Growth
  • Lead the Commerce strategy for priority new business opportunities and strategic client engagements.
  • Partner with Client Leadership and Growth teams to develop differentiated Commerce solutions.
  • Contribute to executive presentations, client workshops, and enterprise pitches.
  • Support the development of new Commerce products, services, and go to market strategies.
Practice Leadership
  • Develop strategic frameworks, playbooks, and methodologies that can be scaled across the organization.
  • Mentor Commerce Strategy leaders and foster collaboration across disciplines.
  • Represent dentsu externally through industry events, thought leadership, and strategic partnerships.
QualificationsRequired
  • 15+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, commerce, digital transformation, retail media, marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Experience leading enterprise transformation or cross functional strategic initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of commerce, retail media, digital marketing, ecommerce, customer experience, and business transformation.
  • Experience working with executive leadership on high impact strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of technology, AI, data, and modern marketing ecosystems.
  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across complex organizations.
Preferred
  • Agency, consulting, technology, or enterprise strategy experience.
  • Experience evaluating technology platforms, strategic partnerships, and operating models.
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, and agentic workflows.
  • Experience supporting enterprise client growth and large scale business development.
The annual salary range for this position is $263,062 -$300,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.

Employees who live within a commutable distance of one of our hub offices, currently located in Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York City, are required and expected to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for employees based in Los Angeles). Dentsu may designate other Hub offices at any time. Those who live outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on the role and business needs. Regardless of your work location, we expect our employees to be flexible to meet the needs of our Company and clients, which may include attendance in an office.
