Own end-to-end editing for short- and long-form documentary, brand, and product videos. Transform raw footage and interviews into emotionally compelling narratives, establish pacing and visual style, manage post-production workflows, and deliver format-specific cuts for web, social, events, and executive presentations. The role requires strong editorial judgment, narrative development, color and audio finishing, motion integration, and creative ownership from rough cut through final delivery.

The Problem

Flock's media engine is expanding to share real stories of community safety and evidence-driven outcomes across the country. The role has two equally important sides. The first is cinematic, documentary-style storytelling: real people, real stakes, emotional restraint, and the patience to build a narrative that stays with the viewer. The second is high-octane, social-first editing: arresting openings, kinetic pacing, platform-native typography and motion, and an instinctive understanding of how attention works now. You will be Flock’s first full-time dedicated editor and a senior craft presence within Film & Editorial, owning the edit from rough cut to final delivery.

What You'll Own
  • Lead the end-to-end editorial process for short-form and long-form video content, including documentary-style case studies, brand campaigns, and product feature spotlights.

  • Transform raw field footage, customer interviews, and motion assets into narrative-driven videos that communicate Flock's mission and real-world impact.

  • Collaborate directly with creative directors, producers, and marketing teams to establish editorial pacing, visual style, and storytelling standards across channels.

  • Manage post-production workflows, including color grading, sound design, audio leveling, motion graphics integration, and asset organization.

  • Produce multiple format cuts optimized for web, social media, event presentations, and executive keynotes.

What This Role is Not
  • This isn't a passive editing task where you wait for exact frame-by-frame instructions, you'll drive the creative direction of the edit and shape the narrative structure.

  • This isn't a field production or camera operator position, video producers and field crews handle production, allowing you to focus entirely on post-production storytelling.

  • This isn't a motion-graphics-only or 3D animation role, you will incorporate motion elements, but your primary expertise is narrative video editing and visual pacing.

What You Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in video editing across brand stories, documentary narratives, or commercial campaigns.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with deep mastery of Premiere Pro and solid working knowledge of After Effects.

  • Familiarity or working knowledge with platforms like LucidLink, Twelve Labs, and generative AI tools such as Runway or Figma Weave is a plus.

  • A reel that shows emotional range, narrative intelligence, and technical finish—not simply footage assembled cleanly to music.

  • Demonstrated ability to build compelling narrative arcs from unscripted footage and customer interviews.

  • Precise eye for pacing, rhythm, visual continuity, and audio mixing that elevates the production value of every cut.

Compensation

In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $100,000 and $120,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.

Why Flock 💚

Every community deserves to be safe. Flock builds the technology that makes that real: last year we supported over 1 million criminal investigations and helped locate more than 10,000 missing people. We're 1,700 people building the impossible with over $1B in funding, and the expectations are high on purpose. If you want a role where the stakes are real and the pace matches, this is it.

📍Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.

🌟 The impossible takes every kind of mind. Flock is an equal opportunity employer, and we know the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills working together with mutual respect. Everyone is welcome to apply. If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, email [email protected]; your information stays confidential and is used only to arrange the right accommodation for your interviews.

💰 On compensation. We pay fairly for the work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education, training, and market indicators. The range in this posting covers base salary only and doesn't include equity, sales bonus plans where applicable, or benefits. The range may be adjusted over time, and this posting may span more than one career level.

📣 One last thing. All legitimate communication from Flock comes from an email ending in @flocksafety.com or [email protected]. We never make offers through messaging apps or third parties, and we never request payment or sensitive personal information during hiring. If you encounter suspicious outreach about a Flock role, report it to [email protected].
