Summary: 

We are looking for a Site Budget and Contract Specialist to join our growing Clinical Operations team! The Specialist will support the development, negotiation, execution, and ongoing management of clinical trial site contracts and budgets across Verastem’s clinical development programs. This individual will work closely with Clinical Operations, Legal, Finance, CRO partners, and clinical research sites to facilitate timely site activation and ensure contracts and budgets are managed accurately and efficiently throughout the clinical trial lifecycle. 



Responsibilities: 

  • Supports the preparation, review, negotiation, and execution of clinical trial site agreements, including Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), amendments, and related site documentation. 
  • Develops, reviews, and negotiates clinical trial site budgets in accordance with study requirements, approved parameters, and applicable guidelines. 
  • Partners closely with Clinical Operations, Legal, Finance, and CROs to facilitate the timely completion of site contracts and budgets and support study start-up timelines. 
  • Serves as a key point of contact for clinical sites and CRO partners regarding contract, budget, and payment-related questions and issues. 
  • Coordinates site contracting activities from initial site selection through contract execution, amendments, and study closeout. 
  • Reviews site budgets and agreements for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with study requirements, escalating discrepancies or issues as appropriate. 
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date trackers and reporting for site contracts, budgets, amendments, and related activities across assigned clinical studies. 
  • Monitors contracting and budget timelines and proactively communicates risks, delays, and outstanding items to study teams and relevant stakeholders. 
  • Collaborates with Finance to support site payment setup, payment tracking, reconciliation, and resolution of payment-related issues. 
  • Supports the review and processing of budget amendments, change orders, and other financial updates throughout the duration of clinical studies. 
  • Maintains organized and complete documentation related to site contracts, budgets, and amendments in applicable systems and repositories. 
  • Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of processes, templates, and tools related to clinical site contracting and budget management. 
  • Supports cross-functional study teams by providing status updates and insights related to site contracting, budgets, and payment activities. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, healthcare, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in clinical operations, clinical contracts, site budgets, clinical research, or a related function within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry. 
  • Experience supporting clinical trial site contracts and/or site budget development and negotiation. 
  • Working knowledge of Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), clinical trial budgets, amendments, and site payment processes. 
  • Understanding of the clinical trial lifecycle and study start-up activities. 
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, studies, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, assess issues, and follow through to resolution. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, CRO partners, and clinical research sites. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a cross-functional team. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, with a flexible mindset to be successful in a biotech corporate culture. 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience negotiating clinical site budgets and/or contract terms directly with investigative sites or CROs. 
  • Experience working in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company supporting clinical development programs. 
  • Familiarity with fair market value (FMV) principles and clinical trial site payment structures. 
  • Experience with clinical trial management systems, electronic contract management systems, or other clinical operations platforms. 
  • Experience supporting multiple clinical studies simultaneously. 


The base salary range ($100K - $125K) provided reflects our current estimate of what we anticipate paying for this position. Your actual base salary will be based on several factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, relevant education or training, location, and market dynamics. In addition, you will be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and a competitive benefits package.
