Position: SYEP Site Monitor

Who we are: The Police Athletic League (PAL) of New York City is an independent youth development nonprofit organization and has been a vibrant and vital institution, serving as an effective, critical bridge between police and communities across all five boroughs of the City since 1914. PAL operates diverse programs for children as young as 2 years old to young adults. Programs include Head Start, after-school programs and summer day camps for elementary, middle and high school youth, and summer Playstreets. PAL also runs evening teen centers and college readiness programs, youth employment, and juvenile justice programs. Staying true to PAL’s roots, a cornerstone of our youth development strategy includes offering competitive and recreational sports for children of all ages. Position Summary:

The SYEP Site Monitor is responsible for ensuring the well-being and success of program participants at their assigned worksites. This role requires frequent travel via public transportation to monitor multiple worksites daily. The Site Monitor acts as a liaison between the participants, worksites, and PAL, maintaining open and consistent communication with Program Supervisors.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with overall SYEP operations.
  • Conducting daily written worksite assessments.
  • Resolve issues to ensure program compliance. 
  • Maintain a professional attitude and manner at all times.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with teens, parents, external sites, and co-workers.
  • Ability to meet daily/weekly deadlines in a timely fashion.
  • Collecting and organizing participant timesheets weekly, and maintaining accurate participant files.
  • Responsible for monitoring participant performance, collecting evaluations, and ensuring that all worksites provide a safe and supportive environment.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for worksite supervisors and participants.
  • Site Monitors are expected to assist with the distribution and collection of all program documents, prepare files for audits, and attend required meetings and trainings at the main office in Queens.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma required; college coursework or degree a plus

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong role model with the ability to guide youth and mediate conflicts effectively

  • Flexible schedule; availability for some evenings and weekends may be required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; general computer literacy is essential

  • Strong multi-tasking and exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated supervisory, collaboration, and organizational abilities

  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce clear and accurate reports

  • Familiarity with and ability to navigate the New York City public transportation system

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively

  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to participants from diverse backgrounds

  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

Compensation: $20.00 Per Hour

Location: Department of Youth Employment - Queens

Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm

Start Date: 6/22/2026
